Title: Fear Not, Little Flock

Text: Luke 12:32 (KJV) “Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.”

Have you ever felt small, outnumbered, unseen, or uncertain about tomorrow? We’ve all been there. Jesus’ words in this short verse are like a warm blanket on a cold night. He looks at His small band of followers and says, “Fear not.” Not because they were strong or many, but because their Father delighted in them. This one verse carries a universe of comfort: God’s pleasure is to bless His children

Jesus was speaking to His disciples in a moment of teaching about trust. They worried about provision, about the future—just like we do. But He turned their attention from fear to faith. He called them a little flock—a tender image of care. Sheep are fragile, dependent creatures, but under the Shepherd’s eye, they are safe. And this Shepherd doesn’t merely protect; He gives—He gives the kingdom itself.

This verse tells us three life-giving truths:

1. God sees us in our smallness. He isn’t impressed by size or strength; He delights in simple hearts that trust Him.

2. We are not forgotten. When fear whispers that we’re alone, God’s Word reminds us we are His flock, known, named, and loved.

3. God delights to bless, not merely to test. It is His good pleasure to give. The kingdom is not earned, it’s gifted from a loving Father’s heart.

Application
So, when anxiety rises or faith feels fragile, hear Jesus’ words again: “Fear not.” Rest in the truth that you are part of His flock, and your Father wants to give you the kingdom. Don’t live as if God is reluctant to bless you, He’s already smiling your way.

Closing Prayer
Father, thank You for calling us Your little flock. In moments of fear and uncertainty, remind us that Your heart delights to give us Your kingdom. Teach us to rest, to trust, and to walk boldly in Your love. May our faith grow stronger as we remember that You are our Shepherd and our King. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

In his service,

Rev. Ronald Sweat.

SERMONETTE
Title: The Risen Lord Changes Everything
Text: Luke 24:33–34 (KJV)

“And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven gathered together, and them that were with them, Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon.”

Message:
The moment these disciples realized that Jesus was alive, everything changed. Fear turned into faith, sorrow became joy, and hesitation gave way to holy urgency. Notice — “they rose up the same hour.” They didn’t wait until morning; the good news was too great to delay!

When the truth of the resurrection grips your heart, you cannot stay silent or still. You will run to tell others, “The Lord is risen indeed!” The empty tomb transforms weary hearts into bold witnesses.

Friend, no matter what situation you face today — loss, doubt, or defeat — remember this: the tomb is empty, and Jesus is alive! His resurrection means your hope lives too.

Blessings,

Rev. Ronald Sweat

Title: Who’s Really Causing the Trouble?

Text: 1 Kings 18:18 (KJV) — “And he answered, I have not troubled Israel; but thou, and thy father’s house, in that ye have forsaken the commandments of the LORD, and thou hast followed Baalim.”

Message:
Elijah stood face to face with King Ahab, a man who wanted to blame someone else for Israel’s problems. Ahab said Elijah was the one causing trouble—but Elijah didn’t back down. He told the truth: “I’m not the problem. The real trouble is that you’ve turned away from God.”

That same thing happens today. When people stand up for what’s right, they’re often called “judgmental,” “old-fashioned,” or “negative.” But the truth is, it’s not obedience that brings trouble—it’s disobedience. It’s when we drift from God’s Word, chase other “idols,” and live by our own rules that life starts to fall apart.

Elijah reminds us that sometimes, being faithful means standing alone. It means loving God enough to speak the truth, even when others don’t want to hear it.

Reflection:
Are you being blamed for standing up for what’s right? Don’t lose heart. God honors courage, not popularity. Stand firm—He’s still with you on Mount Carmel.

Prayer:
Father, help me stay true to You, even when it’s not easy. Give me courage to speak Your truth with love, and keep my heart from following anything that takes Your place. I want to be a light for You. In Jesus’ name, amen.

"Beyond the Bread: Embracing Spiritual Discernment in a Distracted World"

In the Gospel of Matthew 16:5, we find a seemingly simple scenario: "And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread." At first glance, this might appear as a mere oversight, a logistical error in the daily life of Jesus and His followers. However, as with many passages in Scripture, there is a profound lesson beneath the surface.

The Bread We Forget:

The disciples' forgetfulness about bread highlights a common human tendency: focusing on immediate physical needs while overlooking deeper spiritual truths. In our fast-paced world, how often do we prioritize the tangible over the eternal? We get caught up in our daily routines, consumed by what we can see and touch, and lose sight of what truly nourishes our souls.

The Yeast of Misunderstanding:

As the narrative unfolds, Jesus uses this moment to teach an essential lesson. He warns His disciples about the "yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees." This yeast symbolizes their teachings—teachings that were legalistic, hypocritical, and spiritually misleading. The Pharisees and Sadducees were religious leaders who prioritized rules over relationship, tradition over truth.

In our lives today, we encounter similar "yeast." There are countless voices vying for our attention, each claiming to offer truth and fulfillment. Yet, not all are rooted in the teachings of Christ. We must be vigilant and discerning, ensuring that what influences us aligns with God’s Word.

Cultivating Spiritual Discernment:

How do we cultivate this discernment? First, by immersing ourselves in Scripture. The Bible is our guide, offering wisdom and clarity amidst confusion. Regular prayer is also vital; it connects us to God’s Spirit, who grants understanding beyond human insight.

Community is another key aspect. Surrounding ourselves with fellow believers provides accountability and encouragement. Together, we can navigate challenges and grow in faith.

Seeking the Bread of Life:

Ultimately, Jesus Himself is the "Bread of Life" (John 6:35). He satisfies our deepest hunger and quenches our spiritual thirst. By seeking Him first, we align our priorities with His kingdom values.

In conclusion, let us not be like the disciples who forgot their bread but instead focus on the spiritual nourishment that Christ offers. As we journey through life’s distractions, may we develop a keen sense of discernment that allows us to distinguish truth from falsehood. Let us embrace the fullness of life found in Jesus and share His love with a world in need.

May this message inspire you to look beyond the immediate and embrace the eternal truths that guide us toward abundant life in Christ.

Blessings,

"The Gift of Eternal Life Through Christ".

In John 17:2, we find a profound declaration of Jesus' divine mission: "As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him." This verse not only highlights the authority of Christ but also underscores His purpose—to grant eternal life to those chosen by God.

today we explore the depths of this powerful scripture and to understand the significance of the eternal life that Jesus offers. As we look in this passage, let us open our hearts to the transformative message it carries.

The Authority of Christ:

Firstly, let us consider the authority given to Jesus. This authority is not one of coercion or control but one rooted in love and redemption. Jesus' power over all flesh signifies His role as the Savior of humanity. It is a divine mandate that encompasses every aspect of our being—our struggles, our hopes, and our desires. It is through this authority that Jesus can offer us something beyond the temporal confines of our earthly lives.

The Gift of Eternal Life:

The central theme of this passage is the gift of eternal life. But what does eternal life truly mean? It is more than just an endless existence; it is a life characterized by an intimate relationship with God. It is a life filled with peace, joy, and a sense of purpose that transcends our earthly understanding. Eternal life begins the moment we accept Christ into our hearts and continues into eternity.

Our Response to His Gift:

As recipients of this incredible gift, we are called to respond in faith and gratitude. Our lives should reflect the transformative power of Christ's love. We are invited to live in a way that honors this gift—by loving others, serving selflessly, and sharing the hope we have found in Jesus.

Moreover, we are tasked with spreading this message to those around us. The world is in desperate need of hope and assurance. As followers of Christ, we have the privilege and responsibility to be bearers of this good news. Let us be bold in our witness, sharing the promise of eternal life with those who have yet to experience it.

Conclusion:

John 17:2 reminds us of the incredible love and grace that God has extended to us through Jesus Christ. The authority given to Him is a testament to His divine mission—to offer eternal life to all who believe. Let us embrace this gift with open hearts and live in a way that reflects its transformative power.

May we be inspired to deepen our relationship with God and share His love with others. Let us walk confidently in the assurance that through Jesus, we have been granted a life that conquers death—a life eternal with our Creator.

Blessings,

Rev. Ronald Sweat.

"Salvation's Source: Embracing Our Spiritual Heritage"

In John 4:22, Jesus speaks to a Samaritan woman at Jacob's well, saying, "Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews." This encounter is rich with meaning and offers profound insights into the nature of worship, the origins of salvation, and God's inclusive plan for humanity. Today, we will explore these themes and discover what they mean for our faith journey.

The Context of the Encounter:

The meeting between Jesus and the Samaritan woman is a powerful narrative that breaks down social and cultural barriers. Samaritans and Jews had a long-standing animosity due to historical and religious differences. Yet, Jesus deliberately chooses to engage with this woman, showing that God's love transcends human divisions. By doing so, He demonstrates that salvation is not limited to a particular group but is available to all who seek it.

The Role of the Jews in Salvation History:

When Jesus says, "salvation is of the Jews," He acknowledges the unique role that the Jewish people play in God's redemptive plan. The Jews were chosen by God as His covenant people, entrusted with the Law and the prophets. Through them came the Messiah, Jesus Christ, who fulfills God's promises and offers salvation to the world. Understanding this heritage helps us appreciate the continuity of God's plan from Abraham to Christ and beyond.

The Call to True Worship:

Jesus challenges both Jews and Samaritans by emphasizing that true worship is not about location or tradition but about spirit and truth. He invites us to move beyond external rituals and embrace a genuine relationship with God. This call to authentic worship requires us to examine our hearts and align our lives with God's will

The Universality of Salvation:

While salvation originates from the Jews, it is intended for all humanity. Jesus' ministry exemplifies this universality as He reaches out to individuals from diverse backgrounds. The encounter with the Samaritan woman foreshadows the Great Commission, where Jesus commands His followers to make disciples of all nations. We are reminded that our mission is to share the good news of salvation with everyone, regardless of their cultural or religious background.

Conclusion:

John 4:22 invites us to reflect on our spiritual heritage and God's unfolding plan for salvation. By recognizing the Jewish roots of our faith, we gain a deeper appreciation for God's faithfulness throughout history. Moreover, we are called to engage in true worship—worship that transcends boundaries and unites us in spirit and truth. As we embrace this calling, let us be inspired to share the message of salvation with a world in need, embodying the inclusive love that Jesus demonstrated at Jacob's well.

Blessings,

"The Sudden Glory of Christ's Return"

Good morning!
Today, we are going to explore a powerful message from the Gospel of Luke, chapter 17, verse 24. This verse paints a vivid picture of the return of our Lord Jesus Christ, comparing it to the brilliance and suddenness of lightning. Let's look at what this means for us as believers and how we can live in anticipation of that glorious day.

The Imagery of Lightning:

In Luke 17:24, Jesus says, "For as the lightning, that lighteneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth unto the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day."
Lightning is a natural phenomenon that captures our attention with its suddenness and intensity. It illuminates the sky from horizon to horizon, leaving no doubt about its presence. Similarly, the return of Christ will be unmistakable and visible to all. There will be no question or confusion about His coming; it will be a moment that transcends all boundaries and reaches every corner of creation.

The Certainty of His Return:

This passage assures us that Jesus' return is certain. Just as lightning is a natural and inevitable occurrence during a storm, so is the return of Christ an assured event in God's divine plan. Throughout Scripture, we are reminded that Jesus will come again to establish His kingdom fully. This promise should fill us with hope and anticipation, knowing that our Savior will return to make all things new.

Living in Readiness:

The suddenness of lightning also serves as a reminder for us to live in readiness. Jesus warns us in earlier verses not to be distracted by the cares and pleasures of this world. Instead, we are called to remain vigilant and prepared for His return at any moment. This means living lives that reflect His love, grace, and truth. It means prioritizing our relationship with Him above all else and being faithful stewards of the time and resources He has given us.

Embracing Our Mission:

As we await His return, we have a mission to fulfill. We are called to be His witnesses, sharing the Gospel with those around us and making disciples of all nations. The urgency of this mission is underscored by the unpredictability of His return. We do not know when He will come again, but we do know that there are many who have yet to hear the Good News. Let us be bold in our witness and compassionate in our outreach, ensuring that others have the opportunity to experience the hope and salvation found in Christ.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, Luke 17:24 reminds us of the sudden glory of Christ's return—a moment that will be as visible and undeniable as lightning flashing across the sky. Let this truth inspire us to live with purpose and passion, ready for His coming at any time. May we be found faithful in our walk with Him, eagerly anticipating the day when we will see Him face to face.

Blessings,

"The Wisdom of Restraint: Embracing Silence in a World of Noise".

Greetings, dear friends!
Today, let's look into the profound wisdom found in Proverbs 10:19: "When words are many, transgression is not lacking, but whoever restrains his lips is prudent." This scripture offers us a timeless lesson on the power and responsibility that come with our words.

The Power of Words:
Words have the ability to build up or tear down, to heal or to hurt. In our daily interactions, it's easy to get caught up in conversations, debates, and even arguments. However, as Proverbs teaches us, an abundance of words often leads to mistakes and misunderstandings. When we speak without thinking, we risk causing harm to others and ourselves.

The Call for Restraint:
The verse encourages us to practice restraint. Restraint doesn't mean silence at all times but rather a thoughtful consideration of when and how we speak. It means choosing our words carefully and ensuring they reflect kindness, truth, and love. By doing so, we demonstrate prudence—a quality that reflects wisdom and maturity.

Practical Steps for Practicing Restraint,Listen Actively:
Before speaking, take the time to truly listen to others. Understand their perspectives and feelings. Active listening can prevent misunderstandings and foster deeper connections.

Think Before You Speak:
Consider the impact of your words. Ask yourself if what you're about to say is necessary, kind, and true.

Embrace Silence:
Silence can be powerful. It allows us time for reflection and can prevent hasty reactions that we might later regret.

Pray for Guidance:
Seek divine wisdom in your speech. Ask God to guide your words so they may bring peace and encouragement to others.

The Benefits of Prudent Speech:
Practicing restraint in our speech not only helps us avoid unnecessary conflicts but also cultivates an environment of respect and understanding. It allows us to be more present in our relationships and more intentional with our communication.

In conclusion:
let us embrace the wisdom of Proverbs 10:19 by choosing our words with care and practicing restraint in our conversations. In doing so, we honor God and reflect His love through our interactions with others.
May we all strive to be prudent in our speech today and every day.

Blessings to you all!

"He Is Your Praise: Celebrating the Greatness of God"

Introduction:

Greetings! Today, I want to reflect on the profound truth found in Deuteronomy 10:21: "He is your praise. He is your God, who has done for you these great and terrifying things that your eyes have seen." This scripture invites us to recognize the greatness of God in our lives and to respond with heartfelt praise.

1. Acknowledging God’s Greatness:

In our journey of faith, it’s essential to pause and acknowledge the incredible works of God. The Israelites witnessed miraculous events—parting seas, manna from heaven, and victories over their enemies. Likewise, each of us has experienced moments that can only be attributed to God's divine intervention. Reflect on your own life: What great and terrifying things has God done for you?

2. The Importance of Praise:

Praise is not merely a reaction; it is an act of worship that aligns our hearts with God's truth. When we acknowledge Him as our source of strength and hope, we cultivate a spirit of gratitude. In Psalm 150:6, we are reminded, "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!" Let us make praise a central part of our lives, celebrating both the big miracles and the small blessings.

3. Sharing Our Testimonies:

Our experiences with God are powerful testimonies that can inspire others. Just as the Israelites were called to remember their history, we too should share how God has moved in our lives. Whether through social media or personal conversations, let’s declare His goodness and encourage those around us to seek Him.

4. Living in Response to His Greatness:

Recognizing God’s greatness should compel us to live differently. When we understand that He is our praise and our God, we are motivated to serve others, spread love, and reflect His character in our daily actions. Let us be ambassadors of His grace, showing the world who He is through our words and deeds.

Conclusion:

As we conclude today’s message, let’s commit ourselves to a lifestyle of praise. Let us remember the great and terrifying things God has done in our lives and share those stories with others. May our hearts overflow with gratitude as we declare together: “He is my praise! He is my God!”

Call to Action:

Join me this week in finding moments to express your praise—whether through prayer, worship music, or sharing your testimony online. Let’s create a wave of gratitude that resonates throughout our community!

Blessings,

Rev. Ronald Sweat

"Endurance in the Face of Hatred: A Call to Persevere"

In Matthew 10:22, Jesus delivers a profound truth to His disciples: "And you will be hated by all for my name's sake. But the one who endures to the end will be saved." These words, though challenging, are a call to steadfastness and faithfulness in our Christian walk.

Understanding the Context:

Jesus spoke these words as He sent His disciples out into the world to spread the Gospel. He prepared them for the reality that following Him would not always be easy. They would face opposition, persecution, and hatred—not because of who they were, but because of who He is. This message is as relevant today as it was then. As Christians, we may encounter resistance or misunderstanding from those around us due to our commitment to Christ and His teachings.

Embracing Endurance:

Endurance is more than just passive waiting; it is an active, steadfast commitment to our faith despite challenges. It involves remaining firm in our convictions and continuing to live out our faith even when it is difficult. The promise attached to this endurance is profound: salvation. Jesus assures us that those who persevere will ultimately be saved. This salvation is not just a future hope but a present reality that sustains us through trials.

Drawing Strength from Christ:

How do we endure? By drawing strength from Christ Himself. He endured the ultimate suffering and rejection on the cross for our sake. Through prayer, reading Scripture, and fellowship with other believers, we can find the encouragement and strength we need to persevere. Remember that we are not alone in this journey; the Holy Ghost empowers us to remain faithful.

Encouragement for Today:

As we navigate a world that may sometimes oppose our beliefs, let us hold fast to Jesus' promise. Let us encourage one another to remain steadfast in faith, knowing that our endurance is not in vain. It leads us closer to God and prepares us for eternal life with Him.
In moments of doubt or difficulty, remember these words from Matthew 10:22 and find hope in the assurance of salvation through endurance. Let us be a light in the darkness, standing firm in our faith and reflecting Christ's love to those around us.
May we all find strength in His promise and continue to endure faithfully until the end.

Blessings,

Rev. Ronald Sweat.

Title: "The Fire Within: Taming the Tongue"

In the book of James, we find a powerful and vivid metaphor that speaks to the immense power of our words. James 3:6 tells us, "And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell." This passage serves as a reminder of how our speech can shape our lives and the lives of those around us.

The Power of Words:

Words hold incredible power. They can build up or tear down, heal or hurt, bring peace or incite conflict. The tongue, though small, wields a mighty influence. Just as a small spark can ignite a great forest fire, so too can careless words lead to great destruction. James warns us that the tongue is a "world of iniquity," capable of spreading sin and defiling our entire being.

The Consequences of Uncontrolled Speech:

When we allow our tongues to run unchecked, we risk setting ablaze relationships, communities, and even our own spiritual well-being. Gossip, slander, deceit, and harsh criticism are just a few ways our words can harm others and ourselves. The damage caused by reckless speech can be long-lasting and difficult to repair.

The Call to Tame the Tongue:

As followers of Christ, we are called to a higher standard. We must strive to tame our tongues and use them for good. This requires intentionality and discipline. It means pausing before we speak, considering the impact of our words, and choosing to speak life rather than death.

Practical Steps for Taming the Tongue:

1. Reflect Before Speaking:
Take a moment to consider whether your words are true, necessary, and kind.

2. Speak with Love:
Let love be the guiding principle in your communication. Speak with compassion and empathy.

3. Seek Wisdom:
Pray for wisdom to know when to speak and when to remain silent. Ask God for guidance in using your words wisely.

4. Encourage Others:
Use your words to uplift and encourage those around you. Be a source of positivity and hope.

5. Practice Forgiveness:
When others' words hurt you, choose forgiveness over bitterness. Let go of grudges and seek reconciliation.

Conclusion:

The tongue may be a small member of our body, but its impact is profound. By recognizing its power and committing to using it responsibly, we can transform our relationships and communities for the better. Let us strive to be people whose words reflect the love and grace of God, setting hearts ablaze with hope rather than destruction.

May we all take this message to heart as we seek to tame the fire within us for God's glory and the good of those around us.

Blessings,

Rev. Ronald Sweat.
