Day Starter: “I will praise Thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all Thy marvelous works.” (Psalms 9:1) God is worthy to be praised for all His marvelous works in giving us both physical and spiritual life for those who humble ourselves in obedience to His will. It is our own personal sins that separate us from God, spiritual death, and when we are cleansed of our sins God blesses us with spiritual life. Spiritual life is given to those who abide in Christ and His doctrine having our sins washed away by the blood of Jesus. One of God’s marvelous works is providing the blood of Jesus that has the power to cleanse us of all sin as He was the Lamb of God that became the atoning sacrifice for the sins of the whole world. In order to receive the benefits of that sacrifice and be saved by His grace, we must have a living faith that is demonstrated by doing the good works He has identified in the inspired words of the Bible. I will praise God for His marvelous work in fulfilling His eternal purpose by offering salvation to all men in His Son Jesus Christ! Day Starter: “Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish.” (Matthew 18:14) This statement by the Lord shows us that everything that happens today is not the Father’s will. It is not the will of God that little children should be abused or suffer diseases of mankind and die. Some would ask, then why does this happen? Maybe they have been erroneously taught that God’s will is being done in everything because He is in power over the world. There are at least two things mentioned in the Bible that show this thinking to be in error. The Bible says we are all subject to time and chance including sickness and accidents that happen at random in the world. God has also given men the freedom to choose righteousness or unrighteousness, meaning we have the power to choose how we will treat others, even little children. Faithful children of God who love and fear Him will strive to choose to do the good works He has revealed in the inspired words of the Bible. Those who have no fear or love for God will choose to follow the devil yielding to the temptations of flesh to commit many different sins that God has also identified in the words of the Bible. The Lord teaches us it will be few that choose the narrow pathway of righteousness that leads to eternal life in heaven. I will strive to always know and choose to walk in the narrow pathway of righteousness following in the steps of Jesus. Day Starter: “For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the Lord.” (Proverbs 8:35) Solomon was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write these words about the wisdom from above that is revealed in the written words of the Bible. Jesus said those who find and exercise that wisdom in our daily lives are like the wise man that built his house on the rock. If we follow that pattern in our daily lives we will be able to overcome this world and have eternal life in heaven with our Redeemer Jesus Christ. Using the wisdom from above will motivate us to walk in the light of God’s word as we have respect to the eternal reward and blessing awaiting us in heaven. The devil will tempt us with the temporary physical things in our lives today to turn us aside and take our focus off Jesus Christ and the spiritual things that are eternal. I will strive to use the wisdom from above and keep my focus on Jesus seeking those things which are above where Jesus sits on the right hand of God reigning over His kingdom, the church. Day Starter: “Serve the Lord with gladness: come before His presence with singing.” (Psalms 100:2) The faithful children of God rejoice to serve the Lord because we love Him and desire to demonstrate that love by humble obedience to His word revealed in the Bible. We trust in His judgments to always be true and given for our benefit. We do not look at the law of Christ as a burden, but as it is in truth, the law of liberty. All those that walk in the light of God’s word in our daily lives are cleansed of all sin by the precious blood of Jesus. The singing of songs is a sign of joy and an expression of our love for the Lord as we also teach and admonish one another by the messages in the songs that are in agreement with scripture. It always brings joy to the heart of the disciples of Christ when we know we are doing the things that please Him by walking in His footsteps in our daily lives. Praise God for preserving His word so we can learn and do the things that please Him with joy in our hearts! Day Starter: “And these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some an hundred.” (Mark 4:20) Jesus said this in explaining the parable of the sower to His disciples. As the disciples of Christ today, we want to be the ones represented as the good ground that brought forth fruit. In order to do so we mist hear the word, receive it, and obey the commandments of the Lord. Each of must be diligent in our individual study of the Bible so we can hear the word, not just listen to what others tell us about the word of God. We receive the word by believing it and living in humble submission to the commandments given therein. This is demonstrated by the about 3,000 people who gladly received the gospel preached by Peter and the apostles on the day of Pentecost recorded in Acts 2. In explaining this parable Jesus also teaches us we will bear different amounts of fruit and we are dependent on God to give the increase as we plant and/or water the seed, the word of God being planted in the hearts of men. I will strive to produce fruit by obeying the law of Christ and being an example of the believers in my daily life and taking advantage of the opportunities God provides for me to teach others the pure and simple law of Christ. Day Starter: “The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the counsels of the wicked are deceit.” (Proverbs 12:5) The thoughts of men begin in the heart. If the heart is righteous the thoughts will be righteous, and if the heart is wicked the thoughts and counsels will also be wicked and evil. That is why the Lord listed the things on which He wants us to meditate so our thoughts, words and actions will be acceptable to Him. To find the wisdom that is from above we must search for it in the word of God, retain it in our mind and use it our daily lives. Jesus said wise people are the ones who hear and obey His word using it as lamp to our feet and light to our pathway. In His infinite wisdom the Lord is able to know the thoughts of our heart and distinguish between those thoughts and what we focus on with the intent to carry them out. We should not be meditating on the evil thoughts the devil will provide to tempt us to leave the wisdom of God and follow the ways of the world. We should be meditating on the word of God retaining the instruction from the Bible in our hearts so it will be shown in our words and actions as we strive to walk in footsteps of Jesus. Day Starter: “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fullness thereof: the world, and they that dwell therein.” (Psalms 24:1) Everything in this world belongs to our Father in heaven for He created the heavens, the earth, the sea and all that is in them. He is also the One that gives and sustains the life in all things He created. God blessed man and set him apart from the rest of His creation in giving us the power of choice so we could demonstrate our love for Him by choosing the way of righteousness revealed in His inspired words of the Bible. He also blessed us by preserving the Bible that instructs us in the way we can live to please Him. All who truly love the Lord delight in that instruction and understand it is the perfect law of liberty that shows us how we can be made free from sins when we abide in Christ and His doctrine. I am the Lord’s, not only because He created me and gives me life today, but also because I choose to live for Him in obedience to His word knowing He lives in me. Hi DSRs (Daily Scripture Readers): Through His many prophets God reveals the kingdom that is to come with power at the time He has set. We see Him working with individuals and nations to fulfill these prophecies showing His faithfulness to His word. Even convincing terrible rulers like Nebuchadnezzar of His sovereign power and judgment. This revelation of the power and judgment of God builds our own personal faith in the promises He has made to His faithful children today. Here are the readings for this week:

Day Starter: “But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.” (1 Thessalonians 4:9) Indeed, the disciples of Christ are taught by the teaching of Jesus, and His example, that we are to love one another as He has loved us. Our common love for the Savior motivates us to love one another and serve each other as we would serve Jesus. This love for each other as members of the body of Christ will help us to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. The unity and love for each other in the church will also create a desire to edify one another by each utilizing the blessings of God to serve one another as a demonstration of that love. I will strive to follow the example of Jesus and love my brothers and sisters in the family of God in deed and in truth. (John 15:12-14; Matthew 25:37-40; Ephesians 4:1-3; Hebrews 13:1; Ephesians 4:14-16; 1 John 3:17-18; 1 Peter 2:21-25)
