Announcing the Arrival of Ramadan 1447H / 2026
In the Name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Grantor of Mercy. All praise is due to Allah, and may His peace and blessings be upon the Messenger of Allah.

The Assembly of Muslim Jurists of America (AMJA) congratulates Muslims throughout the world, and specifically in the US, on the arrival of the blessed month of Ramadan and announces the following:

Wednesday, Feburary 18th, 2026 will be the first day of the blessed month of Ramadan. We ask Allah to make it a month filled with goodness, blessings and closeness to Him. We came to this decision after confirmation of the sighting of the crescent in many Muslim countries.

The Resident Fatwa Committee of AMJA has always adopted the opinion that if the moon is sighed from a trust worthy source(s) anywhere in the world that shared part of the night with the United States of America, and with the condition that the moon sighting is astronomically possible, then that marks the beginning of Ramadan. AMJA acknowledges other valid and legitimate opinions that disagree with the aforementioned decision and we encourage muslims to accept and respect other opinions.

The assembly, represented by the fatwa committee, makes this announcement to the Muslims of the United States, praying to Allah, the Majestic, the Most High, to accept the righteous actions of us all, just and we beseech Him to alleviate the suffering of the nation of Muhammad at large, and especially to support our oppressed brothers and sisters in Gaza, Sudan, and other afflicted Muslim regions. We also pray for the fulfillment of His promise to them by granting them rescue and victory.

بيان مجمع فقهاء الشريعة بأمريكا بخصوص دخول شهر رمضان المبارك سنة 1447 هـ
الحمد لله والصلاة والسلام على رسول الله

فإن مجمع فقهاء الشريعة بأمريكا يزف إلى مسلمي الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ومن ورائهم الأمة كلها أطيب تهانيه بمقدم شهر رمضان المبارك، ويعلن عليهم ما يأتي: أن غدا الأربعاء الموافق 18 من شهر فبراير من عام 2026م هو أول أيام شهر رمضان المبارك، نسأل الله أن يعيده على الأمة كلها بالخير واليمن والتوفيق والرفعة بإذن الله. ووجه ذلك هو ثبوت دخول الشهر شرعيا في العديد من الدول الإسلامية.

وقد تبنى المجمع في قراراته وفتاوى لجنته الدائمة للإفتاء عدم اعتبار اختلاف المطالع، وأنه متى رئي الهلال في بلد من البلاد ولم يقطع العلم باستحالة الرؤية فيها لزم الصوم بقية البلاد التي تشترك مع بلد الرؤية في جزء من الليل.

وإن المجمع إذ يعلن هذا على الجاليات المسلمة في الولايات المتحدة، ليؤكد على أن هذا هو ما انتهى إليه اجتهاده في هذا المقام، ولا ينكر على من ظهر له خلاف ذلك، والمرء أمين على دينه.

وإن المجمع ممثلا في لجنته الدائمة للإفتاء إذ يعلن هذا البيان على مسلمي الولايات المتحدة ليبتهل إلى الله جل وعلى أن يرفع البلاء عن أمة محمد عامة، وعن إخوتنا في غزة والسودان وغيرها من بلاد المسلمين المأزومة ، بارك الله للمسلمين أجمعين في شهرهم، ووفقهم فيه إلى الصالح من القول والعمل، وتقبله منهم بقبول حسن، وأعاده عليهم و على الأمة قاطبة بالخير واليمن والبركات، والله من وراء القصد وهو الهادي إلى سواء السبيل
