Mike Evans is the Founder and Director of Wholeness Ministries located in Bakersfield, CA. Mike is a graduate of Golden Gate University and earned his Masters Degree in Christian Education and was ordained in 1982. Mike was an associate pastor from 1976 to 1994 at Bakersfield Christian Life Center. In 1989 Mike founded Wholeness Ministries. Our purpose and mission is to continue Jesus’ work by pra

ying for healing and training and equipping believers to effectively minister to those in need of healing, in the physical, emotional and spiritual areas of their lives. Mike and his team have ministered healing in Kuwait, Qatar, N.Ireland, England, Puerto Rico, Hungary, Romania, India, Korea and extensively throughout the United States. Jesus not only proclaimed the Gospel, but he demonstrated the power of God through miracles and by healing the sick and freeing those oppressed by the evil one. Based on our understanding of Luke 4:18-19, we believe that God is calling us as never before to do the works of His Kingdom: to release the oppressed, heal the sick and proclaim the Good News. It is our desire to bring the Christian’s permission and authority to heal back into the mainstream of all denominations of the church. That is why our message is deliberately tailored to be presented in the language that is comfortable for every audience. Wholeness Ministries has been called to encourage the ministry of healing in the Church in a wide variety of ways by training your in-house prayer ministry; offering healing conferences, seminars, and conducting church-wide or even citywide healing services. We are also committed to reaching young adults with this epic message of healing and moving beyond a superficial relationship with God to a place of genuine intimacy with Him. We offer conferences and workshops for this often overlooked age group.

Dear Friends,

In this letter I want to address an issue that I and others have dealt with for years. There have been times during this journey when I have prayed for people dealing with long-term chronic pain and there has been no apparent change in their condition. The physical and emotional toll this takes on an individual is significant. I wrote the following article to help me understand and deal with the chronic pain I have lived with for many years and hopefully help others also on this journey.

Those of you that know Mike Evans, or have read “Why Not Waste Time With God?” know how important it is to him to see people learning to make a daily decision to “hang out” in prayer with Jesus. Each year we try to use the advent season to offer the community a fresh chance to commit all over again to spending this all-important daily time alone with God. Will you join us??

We are giving you all a solid heads up this year! Today is only November 3rd, and we are already looking forward to the beginning of our 4th annual 40 Day Advent Challenge that will begin on November 16th. Who will join us in spending at least 30 minutes every day leading up to Christmas alone with God in reflection, conversation, simple enjoyment of His presence? Remember Mike's book "Why Not Waste Time with God"? Maybe now is a good time to pull it out and give it another read. Or order another copy of it for a friend this holiday season! So grateful for the experiences I have had travelling with Mike over the years, and always looking forward to getting to spend more time with him, carrying on the work of Wholeness Ministries both with him and through our own unique spin-off, The Warriors Path.

...and, one more follow up on Mike’s surgery, according to his daughter we have heard that Mike just got up out of his hospital bed and took a walk down the hall, much to the doctors surprise!!! I’d say that’s good progress!!!

Following up for all of you who have been praying for Mike. Preliminary word is that after a few scares, Mike is doing well and recovering from the surgery surrounded by loving family. Thank you all SOOO much for the outpouring of love and prayer.

Last month I was privileged to be with Mike at another healing weekend in Boston, and it was clear that the beauty and power flowing through the nights of ministry was as strong as ever - or even more so - than anytime in the past!

Please continue to pray that Mike's surgery will prove a long term success, so that he can carry on the life changing ministry that God has blessed him with!! (And if you and your church family have not experienced a weekend of ministry with Mike in a while -- don't hesitate to start arranging for a conference as soon as he is fully recovered and ready to travel!

Asking everyone to pray for Mike tonight as he prepares for some heavy-duty back surgery tomorrow, May 15th. As often as he has prayed and cared for so many of you over the years, he is honored and blessed to have the tables turned and have you praying for him, for a perfectly successful surgery, for recovery of his strength and vitality, and for a quick recovery so he can get back out there "doing the stuff that Jesus did" and teaching others to do the same!!

Words cannot describe the joy we experienced in Boston this past weekend! I never imagined that one day I would be invited to teach "Learning to Do What Jesus Did" in a messianic Jewish synagogue! What a beautiful community, expressed through such moving and enduring traditions! Very much looking forward to continuing the journey with these wonderful new friends!
