REMEMBER TODAY WHO YOU SERVE

Ash Wednesday, falling on February 18, 2026, marks the start of Lent, a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, and reflection for Christians preparing for Easter. Symbolizing mortality and repentance, believers receive a cross of ashes on their foreheads while hearing, "Remember that you are dust, and to dust you shall return".

Take this day to spend time in grateful prayer remembering all the blessings you have in your life (including your life) from our Heavenly Father, His son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. He gave us physical life but also the opportunity to be renewed spiritually. We have much to remember and be thankful for… don’t forget to tell him.

The PSWD is offering our congregations an exciting training called the Incarnational Innovation (i2) process that will help us engage creatively in making ministry happen.

The kickoff event will take place on Saturday, February 21, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at our church. We will be joined by other church teams from the district. If you are interested in representing our church and community, please talk to Pastor Sandy soon.

A message from David Steele, General Secretary of Church of the Brethren

Venezuela President Nicolás Maduro and US military strikes.

Many of us woke up Saturday morning with news of the U.S. military strike on Venezuela that led to the capture of Venezuela President Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores. We have received an official statement from the president’s office of the Church of the Brethren in Venezuela (ASIGLEH) calling for calm, prudence and peace. The WhatsApp Global Church of the Brethren Communion group has been active in calling for prayer and peace and standing in solidarity with the people of Venezuela. Denominational staff will continue to engage and encourage efforts of active peacemaking.

As a historic peace church, we understand war and acts of violence as sin—missing the mark that Jesus set before us to love our enemies. In all honesty and humility, we are challenged by this complex situation as we see many Venezuelans rejoicing at the removal of President Maduro, yet are concerned where U.S. intervention will lead.

As stated in the 1991 Annual Conference statement: Peacemaking: The Calling of God’s People in History, the Church of the Brethren is committed to “encourage the demilitarization of international relations” and “affirm policies which foster human rights at home and abroad.”

We pray for our brothers and sisters in the ASIGLEH for safety and the comfort of Christ.

We also pray for courage to witness to the peace of Christ at this challenging time.

We pray for and hope for a peaceful resolution for the Venezuelan people’s choice of leaders.

We pray that no lives will be lost, that the country of Venezuela will once again become stable in all aspects and that its citizens can live with dignity and security.

May the peace of Christ reign in Venezuela.
