5 Common Mistakes People Make in the First 30 Seconds of Walking Into a Catholic Church

1) Walking in with Starbucks (or your favorite coffee).
A Catholic church isn’t a café or social hall it’s a sacred place set apart for worship.

2)Walking right past the holy water font.
There’s usually a font at every entrance so you can bless yourself as a reminder of your Baptism before entering into prayer.

3)Passing in front of the tabernacle without reverence.
The Eucharist the Real Presence of Jesus is at the heart of the church. Catholics customarily genuflect or bow in reverence.

4)Sliding straight into the pew.
Before sitting down, take a moment to genuflect, kneel, or recollect yourself in prayer as you prepare for the Holy Eucharist.

5)Treating the church like a tourist attraction.
A church is a holy place and a house of prayer. Rather than looking around or chatting, Catholics are encouraged to focus their hearts and minds on the Lord.
