Parish Announcement | Blessing of Throats (St. Blaise)

Join us this weekend as we celebrate St. Blaise, Bishop and Martyr, and receive the Blessing of the Throats, a sacramental seeking God’s protection from illnesses of the throat and all sickness.

Blessing available after:
β€’ Saturday – 5:00 PM Mass
β€’ Sunday Masses:
β€’ 6:45 AM
β€’ 8:30 AM
β€’ 10:30 AM
β€’ 12:30 PM
β€’ 5:00 PM

St. Blaise was a physician and Bishop of Sebaste (Armenia), known for his holiness and compassion. Living as a hermit in a cave on Mount Argeus, he healed both people and animals who, according to tradition, came to him peacefully and never disturbed his prayer.

While imprisoned for his faith, St. Blaise saved a child who was choking on a fish bone an event that gave rise to the Blessing of the Throats celebrated on his feast day. He was martyred around A.D. 316, and is honored as one of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, beloved in both the Eastern and Western Churches.

St. Blaise, pray for us.
