I was getting off of the train yesterday, and a guy was yelling at people as they walked by saying " would someone please just acknowledge me!!! I am a human too, are all of you blind? Can't you see that I am standing here yelling at you and in need?". As I watched people just walked by.... as I paid my fare and left the gate I started to pass him. I stopped directly in front of him and said " hey man, I just heard what you said, and I wanted to tell you, God love's you, and I acknowledge you as a person. Whatever your going through, believe in God, ask Him and he will come to where you are."
He said " wow, you are the only one that stopped... thank you for showing me love... I said " the love of God is what resides in me!" I had to go... praying for him as I write this... When we put ourselves to the side, God shows us what we were really made for.
If we put “blinders” on our eyes towards those hurting and alone, we fail to see the true love and compassion that God has for us. We are all (humans) created in HIS image.... would we walk away if it were he that was asking us for help? Lord forbid...
May we remember the teachings of our Lord and savior
Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.
Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.
Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Gospel of St. Matthew 5:3-10
