At the Church of God, a nondenominational church that has been in the Southeast area of Bakersfield for over 70 years, we are a community of believers from all walks of life and backgrounds, who are united in our love for God and our desire to grow and learn together. Our mission is from the Great Commandment: to love God and to love others (Matthew 22:37-39). He and his wife, Jessica, feel called to serve in Kern County, which they consider to part of God's beloved community.

This Sunday, we were reminded that what we treasure most will always have our heart.

Jesus challenges us to look beyond temporary things and invest in what lasts forever. Earthly treasures fade, but the treasures we store in heaven are eternal. Through generosity, obedience, and a heart devoted to God, we can build a life that reflects His Kingdom.

What’s the tea on the Women’s Ministry, you ask?

Well, today the WM leaders got the ladies together for an intimate experience discussing sisterhood, self love, negative self-talk, and spiritual envy. An amazing time was had learning how to show up for ourselves and others. God told us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves (Matthew 22:39), so if we love ourselves, how much more can we love our sisters in Christ… there’s room for us all! 🤗

This morning at COG Bakersfield we had the opportunity to honor the incredible mothers in our lives with a special Mother’s Day breakfast. 💐

God commands us in Scripture to “Honor your father and mother” and today we were blessed to show love, appreciation, and gratitude to the women who pray for us, guide us, sacrifice for us, and pour into our lives daily.
