HOOKED: Don’t Take the Bait

Temptation rarely looks dangerous at first. It comes disguised as something appealing, something harmless, something we think we can handle.

But every temptation is more than a momentary choice—it’s a decision about the direction of our lives.

Join us this Sunday at 9:45am as we begin a new series, Hooked, exploring how to recognize temptation, resist the enemy’s bait, and embrace the greater life God is inviting us to live.

The hook is hidden. The bait is attractive. The choice is yours.
Don't take the bait.

Why do we keep trying to change… and yet still end up stuck?

In this message as we conclude our sermon series, “Becoming,” we explore the difference between self-effort and Spirit-empowered transformation. God doesn’t just give us instructions—He gives us His Spirit to live through us, shaping us into Christlike disciples.

Discover how to move beyond striving and into the victory, freedom, and power of the Holy Spirit.

We all know what it feels like to try harder… and still fall short.

This Sunday, as we wrap up our “Becoming” series, we’re talking about something better than self-discipline—life powered by the Holy Spirit. Jesus didn’t call us to struggle in our own strength, but to live in His victory.

You don’t have to keep fighting in your own power. The Spirit of God is already at work in you.

Join us this Sunday at 9:45am as we discover what it means to live free and walk in the Spirit.

What if greatness in God’s kingdom looks different than we think?

In this week’s message in our series “Becoming,” we explore Jesus’ call to servanthood and discover why the title “servant” is not beneath followers of Christ—it’s the example Jesus modeled. Learn what it means to walk in humility, serve others, and follow Jesus as we continue becoming mature disciples of Christ.

Too often we become spiritually busy without becoming spiritually fruitful. We can look polished on the outside while forgetting that fruit was meant to feed people, nourish people, and multiply into the lives of others.

Jesus never intended the fruit He grows in our lives to stop with us.

So, in this message from Baker City Church of the Nazarene, we explore John 15 and Jesus' call to remain connected to the Vine so that we can bear real spiritual fruit as we’re challenged to move beyond simply attending church and begin living as apprentices of Jesus who help others follow Him too.
