Please pray for Holly Kurtz. She has been at Butterworth since Saturday with breathing problems (O2 at 82). This is her text from moments ago:

I still feel good. Can’t breathe as well, but otherwise I feel fine. They are hopeful, NOT AT ALL POSITIVE, but hopeful that I will be the last bronchoscopy today. I could use prayers for this. Thank you and love you all.

I came across this quote from C. S. Lewis today about pain and how God sometimes uses it to get our attention. In light of our series on 2 Thessalonians and the struggles they were going through, I think it offers some added insight into how God works in our struggles:
If the first and lowest operation of pain shatters the illusion that all is well, the second shatters the illusion that what we have, whether good or bad in itself, is our own and enough for us. Everyone has noticed how hard it is to turn our thoughts to God when everything is going well with us. We ‘have all we want’ is a terrible saying when ‘all’ does not include God. We find God an interruption. As St Augustine says somewhere, ‘God wants to give us something, but cannot, because our hands are full—there’s nowhere for Him to put it.’ Or as a friend of mine said, ‘We regard God as an airman regards his parachute; it’s there for emergencies but he hopes he’ll never have to use it.’ Now God, who has made us, knows what we are and that our happiness lies in Him. Yet we will not seek it in Him as long as he leaves us any other resort where it can even plausibly be looked for. While what we call ‘our own life’ remains agreeable we will not surrender it to Him. What then can God do in our interests but make ‘our own life’ less agreeable to us, and take away the plausible source of false happiness?

UPDATE FROM ENOCH AND STELLA:

I wanted to give you an update regarding Stella and the baby. We had the Doppler scan today, and after reviewing the results, the doctors have decided that Stella should be admitted to the hospital today at 7 PM.

They plan to induce labor and monitor her through the night, with the goal of delivering the baby tomorrow. The doctors will first try for a normal delivery, but if Stella is unable to progress or if they feel it is necessary for the safety of Stella and the baby, they will proceed with a C-section.

We would sincerely appreciate your prayers for Stella, the baby, and the doctors. Please pray that the delivery goes smoothly, that the baby will be strong, and that both Stella and the baby will be safe and healthy.

Thank you so much for standing with us in prayer during this important time. 🙏

UPDATE: Praise the Lord, the funds—and then some—have come in! No baby yet, which is good news, giving the baby longer to develop in the womb. Continued prayers!

THIS IS A NOTE FROM ENOCH AND STELLA BYLLA ("CHANGES MINISTRIES")

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

We hope you and your family are doing well. We wanted to share a personal update and humbly ask for your prayers during this important season in our lives.

The doctors have informed us that our baby is not gaining enough weight because the blood flow from the placenta is restricted due to an artery resistance issue. We have another Doppler scan scheduled in the next few days, and depending on the results, the doctors may recommend delivering the baby earlier than expected.

At 35 weeks, the expected weight for the baby is around 2.5 kg, but our baby currently weighs only 1.8 kg, about 700 grams underweight. Because of this, the doctors have told us that our baby will likely need to spend time in the NICU after delivery to receive specialized care and gain strength.

The delivery will most likely be by C-section, which increases the medical expenses. After speaking with our insurance provider, we learned that our insurance will cover approximately ₹50,000 (about $500). However, the estimated total cost for the C-section, NICU stay, hospital admission, doctor's fees, and related medical expenses is around $3,000, leaving approximately $2,500 still to be covered.

If the Lord places it on your heart to help with these remaining hospital expenses, any amount would be a great blessing to our family. Above all, we sincerely ask for your prayers—for Stella, for our baby, and for the doctors caring for them. We are trusting God for His protection, provision, and a safe delivery.

Thank you for standing with us, not only in ministry but also during this personal journey. Your love, prayers, encouragement, and support mean more to us than words can express.

With gratitude and love,

Enoch & Stella Bylla
