Saved at the age of 39 I am living proof that God can and will use anyone at any age! The day I surrender asking Jesus to be my Lord and Savior I dedicated my time, talent, and treasures to His kingdom. The first 15 years post salvation I spent singing the gospel and found it very interesting that the lost will come hear someone sing the Gospel that will never come to hear the gospel preached. God was faithful and it was amazingly fulfilling. How I got to WPBC (Church on the Hill)! I felt the Lord calling me to preach. Like a good Christian I spent a good 12-18 months ignoring his calling on my life. One night after great conviction of the Holy Spirit I challenged God with the following quote “If you want me to go preach, then you go and find me a church”! A few weeks later I received a call from West Parkway Baptist Church in Azle Texas asking if I could come fill in while they looked for a Pastor. Tempt not the Lord your God! That was in the fall of 2012 and on 02/09/2013 I was called to be the Pastor and have not looked back. My heart is simple concerning being a Pastor. I want to one day be a good preacher but truly have petitioned God to help me to be a great Pastor! My belief is if we focus on growing the kingdom by reaching our Nineveh then the congregation will grow. Meeting those where they are at, and then using Christ as our example. Jesus always ministered to them first and then challenged them with changing their life! You will never reach a cold, hungry, or thirsty man by addressing their sin first. Take care of the basic needs and then you can reach them with the Gospel! Jesus looked past where they were at and saw where they could be! We at West Parkway Baptist Church are focused on the souls above the soles of the shoes they walked in on. It is not important where they live, what they drive, how they dress, and where they work. What matters is how can we help the lost be a child of the King and how can we who are saved represent to them a God they would want to serve! I preach the truth with the passion and confidence of Paul and the compassion of Christ! We call sin, sin and heaven and hell are real places but we stress that we should walk out the doors loving God more then when we came in and if by chance conviction sets in you understand that you can walk out encouraged and victorious in His name!
