Countdown to Easter, 2025, T-18 and counting. Selections from Isaiah 53
‘By oppression and judgment He was taken away; and as for His generation, who considered that He was cut off from the land of the living for the transgression of my people to whom the stroke was due?’
Isaiah 53:8
This is saying, of all the people of Israel, did anyone realize that Jesus was paying the price for all the people?
John the Baptist, of all that generation, was one of the only ones who called it right. When he saw Jesus, he called him ‘the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world.’
John the Baptist understood why Jesus came!
Jesus offered clues and asked questions of his disciples, all along the way to see if they were beginning to understand or if they were simply dull of understanding.
All the way through the last supper, he offered to his disciples an understanding of why he came. He shared clearly about what was going to happen and told them plainly about His body and His blood. It wasn’t until after he had risen from the dead that the light began to dawn on their spirits, and they came to an understanding.
We are so dull. We need the Holy Spirit to open up the eyes of our heart, and I believe that is why Paul prayed the way that he prayed
Many years after Jesus had risen from the dead, Paul wrote, “I pray that the eyes of your understanding might be enlightened!” He penned these words to the church at Ephesus. It is what they needed.
It is what Peter needed. It is what Paul needed. It is what we need. We need our eyes opened to what God is doing.
Who in our generation will have the understanding of what God is doing? Will there be anyone who has their spirit enlightened?
Who in our generation will dare seek the Lord and His face to understand what the Lord is saying for the sake of our churches, for the sake of our families and marriages?
Open my eyes Lord
I want to see Jesus
To reach out and touch Him
To say that I love Him
Open my ears, Lord
And help me to listen
Open my eyes Lord,
I want to see Jesus!
