Hello everyone. I wanted to give everyone an update on yesterday’s tornado recovery.
First of all, thank you all for the support and understanding during the clean up. The engagement and love on yesterday’s post is what keeps us going.
I wanted to make a quick clarification regarding everyone’s property. As far as we can tell, there is no damage to customers property or markers. That being said we have not put our eyes on every memorial in the cemetery for obvious reasons. Also, the tornado went through the garden of honor and the mausoleum. The middle and back of the cemetery are arguably untouched.
1. The mausoleum is open. A temporary repair on the skylights is completed and it should keep the floors dry and safe. The replacement lights have are on the way, but will take weeks to come in and get installed.
2. We have made a lot of progress with picking up debris, but it will take about a week to make the grounds look back to normal. We can’t cut the grass until all the debris is picked up to avoid making a bigger mess and damaging our equipment.
3. Flagpoles… all flagpoles by the cannon are bent and need to be replaced. The big flagpole are the front has been repaired. New flags have been ordered and will go up when they come in. The flagpoles however will take longer.
Lastly, we will still need some patience going forward. We have 6 burials tomorrow and the grounds are already saturated. I’m sure this will cause a small mess, but please trust the process. I promise there is something that looks bad, it’s already on our list to be taken care of. I would imagine this time next week, the cemetery will be 99.9% back to its former glory.
Thank you all for your support. Have a great Father’s Day weekend.
