This week, we are back on The Atrium Podcast with Pastors Neal, Mark & Chad.

We kick things off with a quick recap of our summer. Mark then elaborates on the last Sunday sermon in the Gospel of Matthew, which brought the "parable discourse" to a close.

We wrap up by responding to the question: "Why would God destroy all of the earth (save those on the Ark) due to man's evil and corruption only to re-populate it with us, people who are inherently sinful and can be evil and corrupt?"

If there is anything we are keeping away from God, we need to learn to give it to him to rule over as our King.

Our verses today are verses 31-33 in Matthew 13. As Jesus is talking to the crowds, he shares two parables to reveal what God's rule and reign on the earth, through Jesus, is like. Both of these parables, one about a mustard seed and the other about leaven, teach the same lesson: God's kingdom will begin seemingly insignificant but its results will be great.

At one point God's rule began in us too, and it should be growing and spreading in us. The trouble is that we are great with God ruling our eternal life, but we like to rule our earthly life.

This message helps us identify if there is anything we are keeping away from God and to learn to give it to him to rule over as our King.
