Maybe it’s been a long week. Maybe life just feels heavy right now. Or maybe you’re simply looking for a place to worship and grow in your faith.

We’d love for you to join us at One Church this Sunday 5:30pm at the Avon Volunteer Fire Department Community Room.

We’re a community of Christ followers growing in our faith together, encouraging one another, and learning what it looks like to follow Jesus in our everyday lives.

In our current mission study, the kids are diving into the incredible life of John Walter Michaels (J.W. Michaels)—a pioneering missionary who dedicated his life to sharing the Gospel with the Deaf community in the early 1900s!

We just realized that today is National Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day, and we almost missed it!

August 18 was first designated by Congress in 1984 to recognize the men and women who volunteer their time to protect their communities.

Here on Hatteras Island, we are incredibly thankful for our volunteer firefighters who answer the call day or night, serving both our neighbors and the many visitors to our island.

Some of our women’s Bible Study group (made up of women from multiple churches) put together goodie bags Wednesday night. Then we each took some and handed them out at different places on the Island throughout the week. August can be a tough month in a summer tourist town. Everyone is tired, student employees are heading back to school, but it’s still busy! So we just wanted people to know they are loved and appreciated. I love how our One Church family (and friends) are looking for ways to serve like Jesus!

Tonight was fun. We missed a few of our regulars but we had some extra guests with lots of kiddos! I’m so grateful for Adrienne Crum jumping in to help with kid-min. Today we learned about God creating us with a purpose, and how Adam tended the garden and named the animals, and Eve was created to be his helper and companion. One of the kids asked if you can live without a rib. 😁 I love watching them learn about God’s word. Thank you for trusting me with them! - Sharon

Whether you’ve spent the day at the beach, on the boat, at work, or just trying to stay cool, we’d love to have you join us this Sunday evening.

Come as you are: flip-flops, sandy feet, work clothes, or whatever you’ve got on. We’ll spend some time worshiping Jesus in song, opening God’s Word, and enjoying genuine community together.

No pressure. No perfect people. Just a church family seeking to follow Christ together.
