The Vigil of Easter begins in the dark.

We gather with stories—ancient, holy, and alive—reminding us that God has always been at work: bringing light from darkness, freedom from oppression, and life from what seemed lost.

Tonight, we remember:
Creation out of chaos
Liberation through the sea
Promise spoken through prophets
And the quiet, rising hope of resurrection
Even now, in a weary world, the light is not gone.
Even now, God is still creating, still liberating, still renewing.

As the first light of Easter dawns, may we be people who carry that light—into our communities, our relationships, and a world longing for hope.

Christ is our light.
And the darkness has not overcome it.
