He ran across water to ask a question and didn't notice.

Sefirat HaOmer, Day 33: Hod of Hod. Lag BaOmer.

The Baal Shem Tov used to travel city to city. One time a simple farmer ran after him so excited to ask a question that he ran across the water to reach the boat in the middle of the river. He didn't even notice. The Baal Shem Tov told him: whatever you're doing, keep doing it. In his simple faith he was already walking on water.

The Torah never says "believe." It says "know." There's a difference.

Sefirat HaOmer, Day 33: Hod of Hod. Lag BaOmer.

Shemot 6:7, you shall know that I am Hashem. Shemot 10:2, you shall know. Devarim 4:35, you have been shown in order to know. Judaism isn't a blind faith system. It's about intensive learning. Torah, science, mathematics, everything. You can know there is a Creator. That's not difficult.

If you know how to make space for another person you're on the right track to becoming a truly successful individual. You won't be judgmental, angry, or disappointed. You'll know when to be quiet and let someone else shine.

The shortcut is always the longest route.

Sefirat HaOmer, Day 27: Yesod of Netzach.

Try to find a shortcut, bend the rules, find a loophole. It might work for a year, maybe five or ten. But eventually you'll hit a dead end and the downfall will be massive. It's like switching lanes in traffic only to find your new lane is slower than the one you left. The only way to reach your purpose is to stay on the road Hashem gave you.

When you do something wrong and somebody tells you, don't kid yourself. They're right. That's the first rule of self-refinement. Never lie to yourself no matter how tempting it is. If you choose denial over truth, you stay stuck. Every lie you tell yourself becomes a barrier to growth.

He was the only person who ever spoke to Hashem face to face while awake. He brought down the Torah from Sinai. He took the Jews out of Egypt. Wealthy, handsome, powerful. Every single thing that leads a person to become proud. And what does the Torah say about him? That he was the most humble person who ever lived.

True beauty has nothing to do with the mirror. It's your personality. Your soul. Your behavior. You should be a channel for godliness. A chariot for Hashem, when you walk into a room. Are you a source of inspiration or are people raising their eyebrows? That's the real question.
