This last Sunday in Matthew 9, verses 1β12, we were reminded that Jesus came to save and redeem the least among us. The simple, the weak, and yes, the most corrupt.
Before healing him, Jesus chose to forgive the sins of the paralyzed man, saving him from the permanent consequences that he had earned for rebelling against God.
He chose to redeem a traitor named Matthew, a tax collector by trade, and call him to be one of his personal disciples, which would result in him being used mightily by the Lord.
And Jesus was also happy to eat with those whom society had cast aside, caring more for the eternal state of their souls, than the stigma he would earn for associating with them.
Likewise, we too are here to bring his gospel to the weak, to show his grace to the sinners, and to love those whom society or circumstances have cast aside.
We are his hands and feet, so may we be used mightily to show the love of our Savior to this lost and sin-weary world!
