The members of the ACTS community at Our Lady of Guadalupe will strive to assist members of the parish family to attain a deeper relationship with the Lord and with fellow parishioners through: Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service JC Cain, OMI was the Spiritual Director for that retreat and he transferred to Our Lady of Guadalupe (OLG) in 2001. He had seen how powerful and transformative th
e ACTS Retreats could be, and was very enthusiastic about bringing ACTS to OLG. So, in 2002, OLG approached ACTS Missions and asked for their support. They located a retreat center and booked their first ACTS Retreat at Highland Lakes Camp and Conference Center in January 2003. By that time, several men and women from OLG and the surrounding area had experienced an ACTS retreat, and these folks banded together to create the foundation for ACTS at OLG. Angela Gonzalez, Debra Carlisle, Blanca Montoya, Sue Fowler, Joseph Montoya, Tim Banigan, Bill James and Jackie James, working with a group of spirit-filled men and women from San Antonio, led the first Men’s and Women’s ACTS Retreats in 2003. As is usually the case when a small group of individuals come together with a mission, and surrender to the Spirit, God’s plan was far greater than anything they could have imagined. Those first ACTS Retreats in 2003 have grown a vibrant ACTS community here at OLG that has in turn carried the ACTS Retreats to other parishes here in Central Texas, and in far-flung locations like Mexico and South Africa! Mission has always been a core value at Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish and it is our hope that the OLG family will remain open to mission work, and heed that call to serve God and spread the Gospel through our actions, our faith and our fellowship. En septiembre del 2000, Debra Carlisle y Jackie James asistieron a un retiro de ACTS en la parroquia de St. JC Cain, de la orden OMI, era el Director Espiritual de ese retiro, y después fue transferido a La Iglesia de Virgen de Guadalupe en el 2001. Él habia visto cuanto poder y transformación se producía en los Retiros de ACTS y se entusiasmo con la idea de traer ACTS a OLG. Entonces en el 2002, OLG fue con ACTS Missions y le pidieron su apoyo. Ubicaron un centro de retiro y programaron su primer Retiro de ACTS en Highland Lakes Camp y Centro de Conferencia en enero del 2003. Para ese tiempo, varios hombres y mujeres de OLG y otras personas de las áreas cercanas habían experimentado un retiro de ACTS y estas personas se juntaron para crear una fundación para ACTS en OLG. Angela Gonzalez, Debra Carlisle, Blanca Montoya, Sue Fowler, Joseph Montoya, Tim Banigan, Bill James y Jackie James, trabajaron con un grupo de mujeres y hombres llenos del espíritu de San Antonio, y dirigieron sus primeros Retiros de ACTS de Hombres y Mujeres de ACTS en el 2003. Como es el caso siempre un grupo pequeño de individuales se acercaron a una misión y se sometieron al Espíritu, el plan de Dios fue mucho mas grande que cualquiera hubiera imaginado. Esos primeros Retiros de ACTS en el 2003 crecieron en una comunidad vibrante de ACTS en OLG y a cambio llevaron los Retiros de ACTS a otras parroquias aquí en el Centro de Texas, y en lugares lejanos como México y al Sur de Africa! Mission siempre ha sido el valor central del la Parroquia de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y es nuestra esperanza que la familia de OLG permanecerá abierta al trabajo de misión, y haga el llamado de servirle a Dios y compartir La Palabra por medio de nuestras acciones, fe, y hermandad.
