Sikh Students Association - University of Texas at Austin

Educate ourselves and others on the principle of Sikhism. We hold various events throughout the year which are all free to students and the Austin community.

We are a group of Sikh college students trying to spread awareness of Sikhism through education and service. Events include Tie-A-Turban Day, Bhangra Night, Hukam Horns Youth Workshop, Kirtan Night, etc. Meetings will be held every Thursdays at 6 pm in the McCombs Business School room CBA 4.344!

2022 SSA Friendsgiving 🍂🍽

Thanks to everyone that cooked or brought food! Also, thank you to everyone who could join us today in celebrating our 2022 Friendsgiving! Hope everyone had fun and enjoyed our little karaoke moment and of course the food. From setting up, to taking pictures on film cameras, to eating, to singing/dancing our hearts out, I hope everyone took away memories to hold onto :)

WJKK WJKF!

The time has come for the Texas SSA Fall Semester 2022 trip! This semester we will be going to San Antonio from November 25th - 27th. Please read and fill out the RSVP form that can be found in our Linktree! Last years trip had great feedback and we expect even more this semester! This is a great way to meet other SSA members from other schools and just have fun after a long semester of school! Itinerary is included in the form but here is a quick breakdown: Friday we will be driving down and exploring the riverwalk/dinner, Saturday we will be going to Six Flags, and Sunday we will be going to Gurdwara and then heading back home to our cities. Hope to see all your amazing faces in San Antonio!

Happy Thursday Longhorns!

Todays meeting topic will be a discussion on the substance abuse crisis in Punjab. A quick run down: It is observed that in Punjab “drug abuse” is a raging epidemic, especially among the youth. The problem of drug abuse within the youth of Punjab is a matter of serious concern as every third person is hooked to drugs other than alcohol and to***co. This includes he**in, and IV drugs as well. Bring your thoughts to today’s meeting to learn more about this ongoing crisis!
