We had a great group come together this morning to sew blankets to donate to a nearby Children’s Hospital! Many of them were new to sewing entirely but they came ready to learn. 16 blankets were sewn with love and are packed and ready for delivery, thank you to everyone who came to support these fine guys and girls and help them through this project!

And just like that it’s over. Some of our group are already home while the rest of us journey today. What a great weekend it was! Our youth are coming home with many awards and recognitions but most importantly, as we close the chapter on this L2L convention, we’ve all grown significantly in our knowledge of God’s word through this concentrated study in James and 1st & 2nd Peter. Thank you to all who have prayed for and encouraged this group in their endeavors, we can’t wait to get home and prepare for next year with a focused study of 1st Kings!

Around 50 of our young people and parents are in Dallas this weekend for the Lads to Leaders Convention!
This weekend they will participate in leading songs, reading scripture, debate, speeches, Bible bowl and more! We have several who participated in year round projects as well who are not with us this weekend but are still using their talents to serve God.
The theme for this year’s convention is “Faith Works” emphasizing study in the books of James and 1&2 Peter. Pictured is our group banner featuring all of our young people participating in various works over the last year. We have such an impressive group at Southwest whose talents and skills being sharpened and used in service to the Lord! We appreciate prayers for safety in our travels this weekend and that through all of this, God will be glorified.

Today was a busy one! We’re in the home stretch of the Lads to Leaders conference that many of our youth will be attending in the DFW area!

We had a quick Bible bowl practice session and a Bible craft for our younger ones, then on to an art project, we hit the kitchen and prepared an assortment of personal size freezer meals for those on our sick and shut in lists, we had a quick s’mores snack break and went in to the annual kids vs adults mini Bible bowl!
Impressively the kids remain the victors, we split the group to give everyone one last opportunity to lead a song, read a scripture, and give any speeches they’d prepared to their respective audiences.

We have so many talented young people, so many hearts that love to serve, and so much fellowship to enjoy here at the Southwest Church of Christ and we’re so thankful for the immense support we get from the members and the eldership in training these fantastic kids!
