As students across Texas prepare to begin their college journeys, we have an extraordinary opportunity to help them remain connected to their faith and find a spiritual home on campus. Across the Texas Annual Conference, the Horizon Texas Annual Conference, and the Rio Texas Annual Conference, our campus ministries stand ready to welcome and walk alongside these students—but they can only connect if they know who’s coming.

This year, we are issuing a friendly but important challenge to every district: Which district can provide the most new student contacts to campus ministers?

Here’s how it works: Connectional ministries, congregations and individuals can share student information in two ways: Fill out the online form here: texaswesley.churchcenter.com/people/forms/559423 or send the information directly to Rev. David McMinn of the Texas Wesley, [email protected], who will then ensure it is passed along to the correct campus ministry.

The district with the most student contacts provided in each Annual Conference will be honored with the Golden Wesley Award—presented annually during each Annual Conference to celebrate their commitment to connecting young adults with the Body of Christ during a pivotal time in their lives. An overall statewide winning district will be honored each year for their faithful contribution to connecting students to United Methodist campus ministries.

By working together, we can ensure that every United Methodist college student has a community to encourage them, challenge them, and walk with them as they grow in faith.

Creating and Vitalizing Congregations: New People, New Places Initiative

The office of Mission Field Ministries focuses and stewards the vision and mission of making disciples. How can existing congregations reach more new people, younger people and more diverse people?
