Life in the university is a unique season for exploring who we are, what we believe, and where our lives are headed. Yet in a world of uncertainty—and pressure to succeed—how do we navigate the tension between building a secure future and pursuing what is true, good, and beautiful?

Join us for a dialogue between two experts from different worldviews. They will speak on these questions and more during a moderated conversation, followed by time for audience Q&A. Food from Union Catering will be provided. RSVP link in bio!

Hill House is excited to host Jon Guerra on Sept 30th for our weekly dinner, for this time, a backyard concert. This is a student-only event.

Jon Guerra is an Austin-based singer-songwriter. While rooted in Christian themes, his folk-inspired songs are designed for personal reflection rather than congregational singing. Guerra describes his style as “devotional music,” which he characterizes as “less Sunday morning worship music and more Monday morning prayer music”. His songs are a collaboration with quiet, designed for soulful reflection and listening to God. He draws on influences from beyond the Christian music genre, including artists like Radiohead, Bob Dylan, and Jeff Buckley.

Notable albums and releases:

Jesus (2025): Guerra’s most recent album features songs composed in conversation with the words of Christ, following his cyclic reading of the Gospels. Singles from the album include “I See the Birds”.

Ordinary Ways (2023): This album was praised by The Gospel Coalition as a “God-centered masterpiece”.

Keeper of Days (2020): Called “one of the best Christian records” of the year by The Gospel Coalition, this album was released after Guerra had moved to Austin.

Little Songs (2015): This was his debut album released on Essential Records, which peaked on the Billboard Heatseekers chart.

Glass (2014): An earlier EP released on Essential Records.

Film Music: He composed music for director Terrence Malick’s 2019 film, A Hidden Life.

This event is for students and UT faculty/staff only, but we encourage folks to learn more about Dr. Foley’s work and to check out his book!

Before coming to Baylor, Dr. Foley earned a BA in religious studies with a second major in finance and a minor in classics from Washington University in St. Louis. He subsequently completed a Master of Divinity at Yale Divinity School, focusing on the theology of the early and medieval church.

He lives in Waco with his wife, Desiree, and two daughters, Jasmyne and Junia.

This Fall on Tuesday nights, Hill House is exploring topics in moral theology and Christian ethics. This week, we’re looking at how the Church’s relationship to power and authority has historically framed ethical decisions and questions. We’ll also ask how this history should inform our understanding and approach to ethical decisions and questions today.

Join the discussion and enjoy a meal with us! We promise it won’t be boring :)
