Trinity Church of Austin

Trinity Church of Austin You are welcome here - really! No exceptions.

09/04/2026

You are invited to share in the abundance of community! We celebrate the time, talent, and labor represented in the ways our gifts are shared, as we work to grow our community, to meet the needs of our neighbors, and to continue nurturing and loving each other here and all over the world.

If you would like to share your financial gifts for Trinity’s budgeted expenses or for this week's Special Offering, you may do so at the link attached to this post.

Today’s Special Offering is Austin Area Justice for Our Neighbors. Austin Region Justice for Our Neighbors provides free, high-quality immigration legal services, education, and advocacy, and focuses on removal defense in 2017 to fill gaps in service for those who are most at-risk for deportation. Austin Area JFON is of the Immigration Law and Justice Network (formerly National Justice for Our Neighbors), founded in 1999 by the United Methodist Committee on Relief.

Friends! Several people have let us know that you’ve received an email from Rev. Chelsea asking for Amazon Gift Cards. This is a VERY common scam that affects so many churches!

Some tips to avoid being scammed:

1. Rev. Chelsea (nor any Trinity staff!) will NEVER EVER ask you for gift cards. Ever. She will also never ask you for money, or anything other than pledges or giving to Trinity in worship services or official Trinity communications.

2. Check the email address or phone number! Not the name associated but the actual address. Anything from Trinity will come from a Trinity email account. That means it ends in .org.

3. Always feel free to check in with Rev. Chelsea and/or with Trinity staff to ask about any communication that seems off.

4. Anything you give to Trinity should go to Trinity. Please never give anything, money, gift cards, etc. to anything other than our offering plates, our Vanco account, or set up with our financial assistant, treasurer, or finance chair. This should be standard at every church: please never, ever give your pastor any money or gift cards that are not intended as a personal gift for the pastor. Ever. Ever. They will never ask you for that. And if they do, maybe reconsider your church.

We love you all, and we pray for enough economic justice in the world so that no one feels compelled to try to lie and steal from people devoted to their communities. Reach out to Rev. Chelsea or Trinity office if you have questions!

Trinity is a reconciling, open and affirming, ecumenical congregation that has sought to be a sign of grace and love for all people in Austin. Our legacy is reflected in the sharing of many people’s time and work and money. When we share, we leave our legacy–tied to the history of this awesome community’s history, rooted in the present, and looking toward the future.

If you would like to donate to Trinity's budgeted expenses or to this week's Special Offering, you may do so at the link attached to this post.

This week our Special Offering is for The United Methodist Committee on Relief. This program assists United Methodists and churches to become involved globally in direct ministry to persons in need.

At Trinity, we could not be who we are
𝐖𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐬 𝐰𝐞 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞
Without all of the work
𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞
That our volunteers give
𝐓𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧.

Our volunteers are who keep Trinity alive. Last week during our special offering, we took a moment to appreciate each volunteer who breathes life into our community.

Please reflect on opportunities to serve our community and consider how you might further connect with your Trinity family and live Trinity’s values through service. If you are interested in volunteering, please reach out to our office or speak with Grace on Sunday.

Instead of our normal Special Offering, this week we are asking for you to donate your time and talents to Trinity. As a community, Trinity seeks to live our values, and that starts with our commitments to each other. We recognize the gift that this community is, and celebrate the individual gifts of the folks that comprise Trinity. Please reflect on opportunities to serve our community, and decide how you might be able to further connect with your Trinity family, and continue to perpetuate Trinity’s values through service.

Last fall, Trinity Church of Austin welcomed the return of Huntington-Surrey School, a longtime Austin private high school and former partner in our shared educational space. We also share a deep connection through the late Dr. Light German, who served Huntington-Surrey for 40 years and was a beloved teacher and leader in both communities.

This weekend we celebrated the dedication of the Light German Education Wing. Thank you to everyone who attended to honor the life and legacy of Light German.

Jessie reminded us how a drop of kindess could turn into an ocean during our youth led Celebration a couple weeks ago.

In July, our youth went on a mission trip to Commerce, Texas where they built ramps and did yard work for people in need.

Jessie shared her experience of the trip and prompted us to consider how we show up for others.

Throwback to our July potluck. Thank you to everyone who came out, we can't wait to see you at the next one!
