Pastor Washington preached from Jeremiah 3:15, a message entitled "The Necessity Of A Pastor Called By God " God gave Jeremiah a message to Israel that He would give them pastors to prevent them from going astray again. God instructed them to repent again for their wrongdoing that landed them in the place of separation from God's Will. God's intent for giving them pastors after His heart was to keep them from idolatry and iniquity. The Pastor's responsibility is to feed the people God's knowledge and understanding. God-called Pastors have the responsibility to present God's Word, but we still must choose to accept and obey. Our spiritual maturity largely depends on having a God-called Pastor. Our relationship with God matters so much to Him that He has called men and women after His heart to help us be all that He has called us to be.

Elder Carl Norman preached "Reclaiming Our Identity As the Church: The Church Is Not A Building!" from Acts 2:42-47. As the Church, our identity is rooted in the Word of God. Our identity is defined by our purpose. The purpose of the Church is to be a physical representation of the Kingdom of God. We must allow the Holy Spirit to lead, guide and shape His Church the way God intended it be. We cannot follow our own mind or society's ideals and expect to be the Church God is pleased to call His own. The individuals who have accepted Christ as Savior have the responsibility to live as Christ has outlined. There is no escaping this assignment. We are who God says we are!

Today's message, "Parameters of Perspective: Deliverance or Escape" from Acts 20:22-24; 27:6-26, 39-44 examined Paul's commitment to God's will for his life. Paul was facing serious challenges at this time in his life. The Jews wanted to kill him for preaching the Gospel. Paul was determined that nothing was going to deter him from completing his God-given assignment of preaching the Gospel to as many people as he could. The storm that shipwrecked him on his way to Caesar could have derailed his focus. But he believed God. Do we allow our storms to cause us to doubt God? Have we made up our minds that no matter what comes we will do what God has assigned us to do? Or do we try to force our parameters and perspective on God? Let's determine to finish strong, to complete our assignments regardless of not understanding, liking or wanting the outcome if it differs from our plans. God's way is ALWAYS right.

Pastor Washington preached "How We Respond To Jesus – Will Determine Our Outcome" from John 4:46-53. We are responsible for our response. The devil didn't make us do it, that person didn't make us say the wrong thing, circumstances didn't cause us to disobey. We have the choice. We decide. Our response is our responsibility. The official in the text requested Jesus to come home with him to heal his son. Jesus told him to go back home, and his son will live. The official believed it and started home, and, on his way home, he received news that his son was alive! The report of when his son's fever broke was at the exact time Jesus said he would live. The father's immediate belief and action (response) led to his son's healing. Our faith will show up in what we do. The father believed and instantly started back home. As soon as God speaks, we must respond (agree, believe and take action). Our agreement with God causes us to obey. What outcome will your response yield you? Respond with faith (belief and action)!

Happy Mother's Day!

Pastor Washington preached "It Pays To Serve God Faithfully," from 2 Kings 4:1-7. Faithful service matters to God. The widow in the text had a great need. She had to find a way to keep custody of her sons. She used wisdom and requested assistance from the prophet. She followed his instructions. The oil didn't run out, it stopped flowing. It's important for mothers to BE faithful, HAVE faith and BE obedient. Her obedience got her out of debt and allowed her and her sons to live. Serve God faithfully, obey Him completely and He will reward.

Pastor Washington preached, "Obey God Regardless," from 1 Kings 13:1-10. When God has given orders/instructions, NOTHING can be permitted to cause us to disobey Him. Our emotions, realities, circumstances, and viewpoints must come subject to God. Our obedience cannot be reluctant. It must come willingly and completely. The Word of God must hold the highest esteem in our lives. Obedience and disobedience both have consequences. Choose complete obedience!
