St Joseph Latin Mass Society

St Joseph Latin Mass Society Formerly a page for promoting the TLM at St Mary Cathedral, Austin, TX. Ocassional posts for traditional vespers or similar liturgies may appear.

Extraordinary Form Mass every Sunday at 7:30 am and 3:30 p.m. at Saint Mary Cathedral in Downtown Austin, Texas. Rosary recited before Mass. Generally for workday Holy Days of Obligation, the Mass is celebrated in the evening. Christmas and New Year's follow the Sunday schedule. The TLM has been celebrated at various locations in Austin since 1988. In the Austin Diocese, the TLM is also celebrated

in the following cities:

Parking is free (weekends and evenings) in the garage just south of the cathedral (entrance from San Jacinto Street) with validated ticket. (Obtain a ticket upon entrance, validation machine available at 2nd floor entrance/exit of garage elevator or at church office.)

At 7:30pm on June 23, for the Vigil of the Nativity of St. John the Baptist, we will chant the traditional Latin office of Vespers during Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament in the Cathedral and conclude with Benediction, which should take about 35-40 minutes. Afterwards, we will have a traditional lighting and blessing of a modest fire-pit sized bonfire that is customary for this night in the courtyard area. You may bring old/used/damaged blessed religious items, such as palms, prayer cards, candle stubs, cloth scapulars, etc. to burn in the fire. Feel free to bring a snack or refreshments to share.
