Texas Canterbury

Texas Canterbury Texas Canterbury is the Episcopal campus ministry serving the University of Texas at Austin. All students are invited to join us on Sundays at 6:30pm.

Texas Canterbury is the Episcopal campus ministry at the University of Texas at Austin. Since 1900, students have come here to find a community committed to feeding body, mind, and spirit. Every week during the school year we gather to pray, share meals, deepen our discipleship, and have fun with each other. If you're a current student, check us out on Sundays at 6:30pm at 27th St and University Ave, across from SRD.

We had a BLAST at this year's diocesan college retreat at Camp Allen. The theme was "Resting in Hope," which we got to do with 90 folks from 14 campuses in Texas. We brought the Longhorn spirit to the Canterbury Cup and we loved getting to reconnect with alum Fr Mark Witte '20, ordained to the priesthood just a few weeks ago. Hook 'em and see you next year!

Cheer on the Longhorns together! We’ll have the game on the big screen in the Canterbury lounge, share some brisket and snacks, and have some games and other activities if being locked into the game isn’t your thing. Bring a friend for a fun evening hanging out together!

What a great All Saints Sunday as we baptized Cheryl! This is a feast when we remember all the faithful people who have gone before us. We ask God to inspire us with their example so that we know what it looks like to act like Jesus in small everyday moments that add up to something bigger than we realize. That's why it's also a traditional day for baptisms, when we recognize new Christians and ask God to fill them with the spirit of Jesus. Congratulations, Cheryl!

"Sustain them, O Lord, in your Holy Spirit. Give them an inquiring and discerning heart, the courage to will and to persevere, a spirit to know and to love you, and the gift of joy and wonder in all your works. Amen."

The bishop is coming! Join us this Sunday, October 5 at 6:30pm as Bp. Kai Ryan visits and confirms Izzy Spencer. Fun fact: Bp. Ryan was on staff at All Saints' Church in the 90s!

Still need a reason to get excited? We're having our annual Blessing of Animals at 5:30pm! Invite your friends, bring your pets (or photos!), and give thanks for all creatures great and small.

(Re)introducing Texas Canterbury! This year we and our neighbors at All Saints' Episcopal Church are celebrating 125 years of Episcopalians at UT, so we're throwing it back to a name you may have heard before. "Canterbury" is a familiar name for Episcopal campus ministries across the country, and through the decades we've been known by a few names: the Sunday Club, Canterbury Club, the Canterbury Association, Canterbury Longhorns, and the Episcopal Student Center. Whatever name you know us by, not much is changing once you walk through the door. We'll still be a place where UT students find belief, belonging, and belovedness for many years to come. As some of our students say: hook 'em, amen!
