Central Presbyterian Church Austin

Central Presbyterian Church Austin Deliberately diverse and fully inclusive, CPC in downtown Austin is a community of Christian faith where each person is welcomed as a unique child of God.

The Presbyterian Church was founded Oct. 13, 1839. FB's "founding" years only go back to 1900, so that's why it's listed as a "birthday" rather than "founding date." For more information about the church, check out our history at https://cpcaustin.org/about/history-of-cpc/

Janelle Collier has been teaching since she was just 13 years old, and brings a lifetime of experience, creativity, and encouragement to our children. After 35 years of formal teaching, she continues to share her gift for helping each child learn in their own way. Thank you, Janelle, for bringing such wisdom and joy to children’s ministry, and in our Young Disciples classroom!

Join us this Sunday for Worship at 11 AM. Alto section leader Isabella will sing, "The Call," from Ralph Vaughn Williams' "Five Mystical Songs."

The songs were set to poems by Welsh poet George Herbert's collection, "The Temple: Sacred Poems." You may recognize the fifth movement from this work, "Antiphon," which uses the text, "let all the world in every corner sing."

The Call
Come, my Way, my Truth, my Life:
Such a Way, as gives us breath:
Such a Truth, as ends all strife:
Such a Life, as killeth death.

Come, my Light, my Feast, my Strength:
Such a Light, as shows a feast:
Such a Feast, as mends in length:
Such a Strength, as makes his guest.

Come, my Joy, my Love, my Heart:
Such a Joy, as none can move:
Such a Love, as none can part:
Such a Heart, as joyes in love.
