Genesis Presbyterian Church

Genesis Presbyterian Church We are a little church with a big heart! Worship is at 11am on Sundays. All are welcome. Really. It's traditional-ish - we sing hymns and pray prayers. Jesus did.

There's a sermon. We are hybrid now and most folks join via Zoom. Pastor Mandi leads worship from the Sanctuary, so if you want to come in person you're more than welcome. Dress is casual. Jeans are just fine. We encourage folks to remove their shoes during the service. Participate to the degree you feel comfortable. Children are welcome in worship. We also have a nursery if you/they prefer when a

ttending in person.. We welcome everyone. Hope to see you Sunday! Meet Rev. Mandi Richey, our pastor!! Mandi was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA, but got to Austin as soon as she could in January 2011. She relocated here for her husband’s job. She is the mother of two wonderful children, a boy and a girl. She went to Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA, where she earned degrees in Youth Ministry and Speech Communication. Then she attended Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, where she earned a Master of Divinity, graduating in 2006. While at seminary, she was humbled to receive two preaching awards: the Walter P. and Anna L. McConkey Award in Homiletics and the Robert M. Ezzell Homiletical Prize. She has been ordained since 2008. Mandi is currently working on a Doctor of Ministry at Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in the area of Public Theology. She has served churches in various capacities since graduating from seminary – as pulpit supply preacher, Christian Educator, contemporary worship leader and associate pastor. Mandi has been at Genesis since October 2016. Mandi is passionate about spiritual development and faith of folks of all ages, as well as being committed to reaching out to and connecting with the community and neighborhood. Her greatest hope is that every person will feel valued and welcomed.

With grief and gratitude, we share that the Rev. Dr. Edwin Theodore Salvant, Jr. (“Ed”) has completed his earthly life and is now living eternally with his Creator and Savior.

Beckoned by the Holy Spirit, Pastor Ed was ordained in 1964 and served Texas congregations full time for three decades, most notably 28 years at Wilshire Presbyterian in Austin. Following his retirement in 1994, he joined Hope Presbyterian as a Parish Associate.

For over twenty years he showed up on doorsteps welcoming newcomers and taught weekly Bible study, faithfully unfolding scripture. Many remember his clown ministry, “The Harlequins of Hope,” as a joyful witness to Christ’s love.

We give thanks for a life of faithful, joy filled service. Please hold his wife, Joan, and their family in prayer as they grieve and give thanks for Ed’s life. The date for his memorial is pending.
