We were invited to attend the Texas Alliance for Life Annual Benefit dinner in Austin this last weekend! We had the pleasure of meeting the Lieutenant Governor, Dan Patrick, Shawn Carney from 40 Days for Life, and hearing Joe Pojman once again champion this movement with excellence. I was so encouraged by the amount of people who were there to show support of life and the steps Texas is so confidently taking towards ensuring life is protected. Together with and .leyendecker, we have been able to further the vision of seeing life celebrated and God glorified through the arts. We are grateful to also be able to empower the next generation of people fighting for life by including Veritas Academy’s Defenders for Life High-School students represented by , .leyendecker, and Nathan Lansing.

What a day to glorify God through dance and celebrate life! I am so incredibly grateful to everyone who attended and covered this event in prayer! Below are some exciting updates regarding the heartbeat legislation in Texas and what it provides for women and the unborn.

The Texas legislature has budgeted $100 million (a 25% increase), for the next two years, for the Alternatives to Abortion program, providing services to women with unplanned pregnancies so they can successfully carry the baby to term, give birth, and keep the baby or place the baby for adoption.
Services are also available for three years after birth. The principal contractor, Texas Pregnancy Care Network, will serve 150,000 women a year (compared to the 54,000 anual abortions, prior to SB 😎. Hundreds more privately funded organizations offer similar services. Services include maternity and baby clothes and diapers, as well as life skills like budgeting, parenting, pregnancy classes, and job skills, etc.
Now, Texas’ Medicaid program pays for prenatal care, childbirth, and follow up care, for the mother for six months, and for the child for 12 months (one of only a handful of states that provides this type of coverage for that length of time). Funded at nearly $1.2 billion per year, the program pays for more than half of births in Texas. The Child Health Insurance Program pays $135 million per year for perinatal care for unborn children.

I was so honored to be asked to share why we were doing what we were at the Capitol. The narrative needs to be understood that we are not against women’s rights, we are for them! Being pro life is a both/and issue in that we want to stand by our strong convictions of life at conception and the rights of these baby girls and boys, while also providing emotional, and financial support to mothers and fathers on the journey to choose life! We stand for both. Life after birth matters too for all party’s and we are here to fight for that and provide resources to those who want to give and serve. No one should be neglected or cast aside and we need YOU to step up and help as the new heartbeat bill is set in place.

We danced for Jesus at the Capitol on National Day of Dance! And it wasn’t even planned!! Man our God is good! So much to be thankful for and praise God for! People are being moved to rededicate the arts to the one who deserves the glory and called to action to be the hands and feet of Jesus for mothers and fathers choosing life! Life after the womb matters so much too and we need to step up as the church to support and encourage! Let’s continue to be the voice for the voiceless and the innocent!
