Sometimes I can get distracted from the promises of Christ.
I can become overwhelmed with worry or I can start to believe the lies the world tells me.
Then words like, REDEEMED remind me of who I am and whose I am.
I remember that I am a child of God and he makes me worthy of the promises of Christ, even when I lack the faith or confidence I think I should have.
Here’s my prayer of gratitude…

Father
You know my every thought
…and yet you still love me.

I fall short in many ways
…but you never leave my side.

Teach me your ways
…so I might see you better.

Help me to recognize you
…in every person I meet.

Let the Word be my guide
…to come to know you better!

May I pray with the persistence of the widow, making petition day and night.
Help me to live my life with the faith of the widow in my heart, knowing you will provide for my every need.

If you were to make a list of qualities you would like to have in a partner or in a friend, you would probably include words like trustworthy, honest, and loyal.
You would want someone who you can rely on to do the right thing, make decisions based on the greater good, and always have your best interests at heart.
Of course, no matter how hard you try and no matter how hard they try, there is not one person alive who can 100% be or do these things because all humans are bound to make mistakes.
There is only one person who ever walked on this earth who could fulfill the duties of this partnership, and that is Jesus because He is God.
This doesn’t mean it isn’t possible, it only means it requires leaning on God to help you to follow in Jesus’ footsteps.
So perhaps instead of seeking someone who has whatever list of qualities you want, consider adding to the list that you find someone who is and will remain faithful to God.
This way, you know you aren’t just relying on their humanity, but you know that they are relying on God to help them stay true.

Creator God,
May I go forth and seek to find the many miracles of my day.
I sit in wonder of Your creativity in the colors of the changing fall leaves.
I feel Your warm embrace in the words of a song which brings comfort.
I taste Your bountiful harvest in the sweetness or tartness of a juicy apple.
I feel the miracle of all miracles, YOUR LOVE, in the companionship of a lover or a friend.
I give thanks to you for allowing me to be the benefactor of all this goodness.

As a person of faith, it is hard for me to look at anything or go anywhere without seeing evidence of the God who created me and all living things.
I enjoy watching the sun rise in the morning and set at night.
When I take walks, I love to look around at the trees, grass, clouds, and all the beautiful, living things around me.
It fills me with such wonder and awe at the intricate details of each thing.
Then to think, God created each of these things for a purpose and it makes me feel loved.
I know it can be easy to feel small and insignificant in these moments too, but I don’t allow myself to get sucked into that lie.
The Scripture clearly states that after God had created the light and the dark, the sun, moon, and stars, and all of the living things on earth, in the sky, and in the sea, then He created what He deemed VERY GOOD, and that is you and me.
I can see the earth giving thanks and praise to God, through the changing of the seasons.
Watching summer turn into fall, fall into winter, winter into spring and spring into summer are lessons on how to transition through the changes of season in life.
I am grateful for these examples, of how the earth adapts and flows through the changes in life, teaching me to see more like God sees, finding beauty in creation.

Lord,
I long to throw myself at your feet and feel Your healing touch.
Give me what I need to bear the hurts and burdens I must.
Teach me Your healing ways so I can sooth and comfort others.
Let me be a conduit for others to see your compassion.
May it be done so the whole world know how it feels to rest in Your loving embrace.

The definition of a servant is someone who performs duties for others.
A servant of God is simply, someone who wants to remain faithful to God.
They set out to be of service to one another, by being helpful and supportive, thus spreading God’s love around.
God is not a Master and you a slave, rather you and God are a team, working together.
You are called to be faithful to God as He is faithful to you.
Trust that God will give you every good gift so you can go out and share them with others.
And at the end of each day, in prayer, you can give thanks for all that God provided for you.
Slow down and let God know you are ready, willing, and able to serve.
