“The one who conceals hatred has lying lips, and whoever utters slander is a fool.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭10:18‬ ‭

Sometimes a story is just too good to keep to yourself, not so? Or sometimes we just say bad things about someone to give them a taste of their own medicine. The Bible is clear: You're a fool if you gossip.

Gossip is born of a sinful heart and if you gossip you're a messenger of Satan. Gossip also comes from a jealous heart. It's easier to gossip about someone than to be happy for them. Even if the story is true, ask yourself what the motive is behind telling the story. In most cases it's pure sensationalism. You can't gossip under the banner of "helping" someone — if you really want to help the person, go to them and offer your help.

Stop gossiping today, and never say anything about someone else that you don't want them to say about you.

“Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.” ‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:29‬ ‭

Aren't we all guilty? Who can honestly say that foul language has never escaped from your lips?

Sometimes we want to apologize for what we've said, since it just slipped out. "Ouch" is really not strong enough to express the pain when you hit your thumb with a hammer. Nonetheless, there is no excuse for foul talk, especially from a child of God. You can't praise Him one moment and cure someone the next with the same mouth!

Think about what you're saying: Will it be an embarrassment to you if your parents, boss, pastor or children know every word that comes from your mouth? Or are you going to hold your head high because your words influence others positively?

Think before you speak; don't say things you'll later regret.

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

“I tell you, on the day of judgment people will give account for every careless word they speak,” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:36

In this verse, it is Jesus who is speaking. If these is one spripture verse to highlight in the Bible, this is the one. We will have to give account for every single word, intended or not.

Jesus said that every word spoken in secret will be shouted from the rooftops. What was He referring to? Our word. We must watch what we say, the comments we make about other people.

I've searched for a description of what empty and frivolous words mean exactly, It might be a joke or something silly you've said.

An empty word is a word spoken without thinking or concentrating, and without considering the consequences. It's when you rush your words without thinking. Jesus warned against this, and it's a warning to take heed of.
