FAMILY MATTERS: HEALING WHAT HOME BROKE ❤️‍🩹

Misunderstood | Sometimes, what happens at home can affect how we experience God. But even when we feel misunderstood by the people closest to us, God REALLY knows us.

“LORD, You have searched me and known me…” — Psalm 139:1–4
So, what do we do when we feel misunderstood by our parents?
1. Acknowledge their intent: Remember that correction can come from a place of love. Give your parents the benefit of the doubt.

2. Respond, don’t react: Maturity is learning how to respond with wisdom instead of reacting out of emotion. When someone raises their voice, try softening yours.

3. Humble yourself: Be willing to listen, receive correction, take responsibility, and recognize that we all have blind spots. Godly wisdom often comes through the people He places around us.

4. Pray & forgive: Pray for the relationships that are difficult. You may not be able to control someone else’s actions, but you can invite God to work in your heart and in the relationship.

You may feel misunderstood by people, but you are never unknown by God.

Don’t Just Scroll By | Luke 10:25–37

The message “Don’t Just Scroll By” is based on the story of the Good Samaritan. Jesus teaches that loving our neighbor means more than simply caring about the people we know or are close to. Our neighbor can be anyone who is hurting and in need of help, even someone we least expect.

Just like we can become accustomed to scrolling past hurting people on social media, we can also become numb to the hurting people we encounter every day. Seeing someone’s pain should move us to compassion and action.

When You Really Love Your Neighbor:
Love notices — We pay attention to people who are hurting.
Love stops — We are willing to slow down and make time for someone.
Love does something — We don’t just feel bad for someone; we take action to help.

The priest and Levite saw the injured man but chose to pass by. The Samaritan, however, saw him, felt compassion, stopped, and cared for him. Jesus used this story to show that being a good neighbor means showing mercy, even when it is inconvenient or involves someone we don’t know.

Main Takeaway
We shouldn’t become so accustomed to seeing pain that we simply scroll past it. God calls us to notice the people around us and respond with love and compassion.

When you see someone hurting:
1. See them.
2. Stop for them.
3. Serve them.

The question isn’t just, “Who is my neighbor?” but “How can I be a neighbor to someone who needs me?”
