There are a lot of different stories told about where the world came from, whether there’s a purpose, and what it means to be human. As Christians, our answers to these questions come from our origin story in the book of Genesis. It gives a startling description of how the universe and humans got here, why we’re so messed up, and—even more incredibly—how things could be set right.

CITY KIDS FALL LAUNCH!
This Sunday we are delighted to resume our CityKids ministry for children birth to 5th grade during the first half of the service.

When Jesus wanted to give a living parable about the kingdom of heaven, he brought a child—maybe an infant—into the center of his disciples and encouraged the adults to have faith like that young child. As we lead children to Jesus, they lead us to Jesus. As we teach them to worship, they teach us to worship.

And so children are a central part of our City of Light, family and mission, not as future members someday but as full members now. This is why we welcome children into both CityKids—where they receive teaching and worship in age specific ways—and why we have multigenerational parts of our Sunday gathering, welcoming them into the sacraments of communion and baptism and into our most important feasts and fasts.

We're so grateful for the CityKids team and for the culture of our entire church that brings kids to the center. See you Sunday!

We all have moments where we feel too focused on ourselves, but deep down, don’t many of us want to make a positive impact on the people around us? The Bible teaches us that the people of God have spiritual gifts that minister the grace of God to others. More than our natural abilities, spiritual gifts are the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit. Join us this summer as we grow in giving ourselves for others.

Congratulations Deacon Casey on the 7 year anniversary of your ordination as deacon, April 28, 2019! We are so grateful for the ministry of Deacon Casey and Erika. Join us in prayer as they take a 6 Sunday sabbatical this summer, beginning following Sunday, May 31 and returning Sunday, July 19.

Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
