We all have moments where we feel too focused on ourselves, but deep down, don’t many of us want to make a positive impact on the people around us? The Bible teaches us that the people of God have spiritual gifts that minister the grace of God to others. More than our natural abilities, spiritual gifts are the supernatural work of the Holy Spirit. Join us this summer as we grow in giving ourselves for others.

Congratulations Deacon Casey on the 7 year anniversary of your ordination as deacon, April 28, 2019! We are so grateful for the ministry of Deacon Casey and Erika. Join us in prayer as they take a 6 Sunday sabbatical this summer, beginning following Sunday, May 31 and returning Sunday, July 19.

Almighty God, who after the creation of the world rested from all your works and sanctified a day of rest for all your creatures: Grant that we, putting away all earthly anxieties, may be duly prepared for the service of your sanctuary, and that our rest here upon earth may be a preparation for the eternal rest promised to your people in heaven; through Jesus Christ our Lord. What a joy to celebrate the feast of Pentecost with baptisms, a beautiful message from Deacon Margie, and dancing! Join us as we continue in the season of Pentecost this summer!

PENTECOST VIGIL, SATURDAY MAY 23, 7PM, MINISTRY SPACE — During this prayer service, we read Old Testament stories of the Holy Spirit, sing, pray, and hear a message on the Spirit from one of our leaders. Like the first disciples in the upper room waiting for the coming of the Spirit, we wait for and ask for more of the Spirit in our lives. Saturday, May 23, 7pm, at the Ministry Space.

PENTECOST SUNDAY MAY 24, 10AM — Celebrate the feast of Pentecost with us on Sunday! Deacon Margie Fawcett joining us as our preacher and we will be celebrating baptism. City Kids will have nursery only as older children join in the baptism service. The liturgical color is red and all are invited to wear red for pentecost if they would like to.

FEAST OF PENTECOST CONVIVIO PICNIC — Join us for our annual Pentecost Picnic and All Ages Soccer Game on Sunday, May 24, following the worship service. We will gather at McCullough Park in Aurora (150 W. Illinois) to celebrate Pentecost with food, fun and fellowship. This is a potluck picnic so please help us out! If your last name starts with A-L, please bring a salad. If your last name starts with M-Z, please bring a side dish. The church will provide hot dogs and fixings, chips, desert and beverages. You may want to bring your own chairs and blankets for seating.

The Bible tells us that Jesus ascended into heaven 40 days after his resurrection, a feast that the church still celebrates 40 days after Easter, this Thursday, May 14. Join us as we celebrate that Jesus has ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father!

What a weekend! Our City Of Light ladies had a rich time at our first ever diocesan women’s retreat with 200+ women from across the Midwest. It was such a gift to have this time to worship, laugh, and form deeper friendships — both within our own church, but also with women that are part of our family of churches. We’re already praying for the next one!

He is risen! What a glorious Easter Sunday!
