Today, the New Hope congregation partnered with the B’Nai Temple congregation to fill 65 boxes full of food - all the fixins needed for Thanksgiving feasts for 65 families of 10. It was a labor of love, for our Aurora community — many families who are struggling in this economy and this time when deep cuts are being made to federal funding of programs for the poor. We were thrilled to join with the Aurora Area Food Bank to provide these bountiful feasts, to which turkeys will be added by the food pantry before distribution. Some of the foods contained in each box included rice, beans, stuffing mix, mashed potatoes, corn, cranberries, ingredients for green bean casserole, ingredients for sweet potato casserole, corn bread mix, brownie mix, oil, onions, celery, garlic, apples, eggs, and butter. Of course, the Temple and New Hope workers had a great luncheon of soups, sandwiches, and yummy desserts before we got to work! The day was truly very blessed!
