A prison sentence doesn’t have to be the end of someone’s story!

Through New Life Corrections, Wayside’s prison ministry, men behind bars encounter the hope of Jesus Christ through Bible studies, worship, spiritual mentorship and practical programs that help them build healthier lives and relationships.

Amazing stories come out of NLC’s visits to Illinois jails and prisons, and we invite you to come hear them at our upcoming banquet on November 5.

LAYING THE FOUNDATION
Ten years of prayer. A foundation taking shape. 🙌

Some prayers are answered quickly. Others unfold over decades.
For a decade Wayside Cross Ministries’ Urban Youth Ministry has prayed and dreamed of a place like this. Today, we’re celebrating: the foundation is being laid for our new Youth Ministry Center!

But the vision reaches far beyond the concrete.

Picture a child finding help with schoolwork. A caring mentor listening. New friendships forming. A young person discovering that they are seen, loved, and created with purpose.

A field of dreams begins to take shape. This 12,700-square-foot building will provide a safe, nurturing place for discipleship, educational support, and recreation—opening doors of opportunity for hundreds of kids.

“For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” —1 Corinthians 3:11

As the building takes shape, our foundation remains Christ Jesus, our Lord and Savior.

We thank God for every person who has prayed, served, and given to help bring this vision to life and for the handful of generous supporter who are making this possible.

What has a caring teacher, coach, or youth leader meant in your life?

We’d love to hear your story in the comments!

>>> Share this milestone with someone who believes in and hopes for the next generation.

Master’s Touch resident Brent (right) and his mentor “Dr. B” took advantage of the beautiful weather this week and met in the courtyard for their weekly time together. ☀️

Dr. B, a retired veterinarian, is a beloved presence around here. He is one of the dozens of Christ-following men who volunteers his time each week to pour into our residents through mentoring. We’re grateful for each mentor who gives so generously of his time!

What a special evening we had celebrating what God is doing at Elgin Wayside Center! Guests gathered Friday night at Christ Community Church for the annual banquet.

Director Dave Krieger shared an update on the ministry’s growth from a homeless day center into an overnight facility offering Christ-centered care. We also heard from volunteers, staff, and Elgin’s first-ever graduate, which was a special milestone for EWC.

The evening concluded with a message from radio host John Anthony.

Thank you to everyone who attended! If you were unable to come but still want to play a role in what God is doing in the ministry, it’s not too late. Visit waysidecross.org/elgin-2026-banquet
