Today, on Memorial Day, we gather in prayer, gratitude, and remembrance.
At St. Michael Cemetery, surrounded by the resting places of our loved ones, we honored the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our nation. Their sacrifice reminds us that freedom is never free. It is preserved through courage, duty, and love of country.
We are especially grateful for the presence of the members of the Roosevelt-Aurora American Legion Post 84, whose continued dedication helps keep alive the memory of those who served with honor.
As Christians, we believe that death is not the end. Christ Himself conquered death through His Resurrection, giving us hope in eternal life.
So today let us all ask the Lord to grant them rest among the saints.
May we never forget the price that was paid for peace and liberty. And may we, through lives of faith, compassion, and unity, become worthy of the sacrifices made before us.
May God bless our veterans, our military families, our community, and the United States of America. Eternal memory to all who have departed this life in service and faith. Amen!

On this blessed Feast of Pentecost, may the Holy Spirit descend upon our hearts as He descended upon the Apostles — bringing peace, wisdom, courage, and renewed faith.
In the beauty of our Byzantine Catholic tradition, we rejoice today in the life-giving Spirit who renews the Church and unites us in Christ.
“ Heavenly King, Comforter, Spirit of Truth, come and dwell within us.”

În această binecuvântată sărbătoare a Rusaliilor, fie ca Spiritul Sfânt să coboare peste inimile noastre așa cm S-a coborât peste Apostoli — aducând pace, înțelepciune, curaj și credință reînnoită.
În frumusețea tradiției noastre bizantine, ne bucurăm astăzi de Spiritul dătător de viață care reînnoiește Biserica și ne unește în Cristos.

Memorial Day is an American Holiday, observed on the last Monday in May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials. Every year members of the Roosevelt – Aurora American Legion Post 84 visit four cemeteries to pay respect to the fallen veterans.
On Monday, May 25th they will be at St. Michael Cemetery at 1:15pm.
May their memory be eternal!

Prayer:
God of power and mercy,
you destroy war and put down earthly pride.
Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears,
that we may all deserve to be called your sons
and daughters.
Keep in your mercy those men and women
who have died in the cause of freedom
and bring them safely
into your kingdom of justice and peace.
We ask this though Jesus Christ our Lord.

Dear Parishioners,

Today we celebrate the great feast of the Ascension of Our Lord. After His Resurrection, Jesus returned to the Father, not to leave us behind, but to open the gates of heaven for all who believe in Him. The Ascension reminds us that our true home is not only on earth, but with God in eternity.

Even as He ascended into heaven, Christ promised to remain with us always. He is with us in the Holy Eucharist, in prayer, in His Word, and in every act of love and mercy. This feast also reminds us that we are called to continue His mission by bringing hope, kindness, and faith to those around us.

In a world often filled with worry and uncertainty, the Ascension encourages us to lift our hearts toward heaven and to live with trust in God’s promises. May this holy feast renew our faith and strengthen our desire to follow Christ more closely each day.

May Our Lord bless you and your families abundantly.

Today, we joyfully celebrate the feast of Saint George, the Great Martyr and Trophy-Bearer of Christ.
Saint George stands before us as a radiant witness of courage, faith, and unwavering devotion to Christ. Though he lived in a time of persecution, he chose faith over fear, truth over compromise, and love for Christ above all earthly honors. His victory was not only over visible enemies, but also over doubt, fear, and the trials that test every faithful heart.
Holy Great Martyr George, pray to God for us!
Blessed Feast Day to our Cathedral of St. George in Canton, to St. George Church in Aurora, and to all who celebrate!
May this holy day bring you strength, peace, and renewed faith.

Astăzi prăznuim cu bucurie sărbătoarea Sfântului Mare Mucenic Gheorghe, purtătorul de biruință al lui Cristos.
Sfântul Gheorghe stă înaintea noastră ca un martor luminos al curajului, al credinței și al unei dăruiri neclintite față de Cristos. Deși a trăit într-un timp de persecuție, a ales credința în locul fricii, adevărul în locul compromisului și dragostea pentru Hristos mai presus de toate onorurile pământești. Biruința lui nu a fost doar asupra vrăjmașilor văzuți, ci și asupra îndoielii, fricii și încercărilor care pun la încercare fiecare inimă credincioasă.
Sfinte Mare Mucenice Gheorghe, roagă-te lui Dumnezeu pentru noi!
La mulți ani binecuvântați Catedralei Sfântul Gheorghe din Canton, Bisericii Sfântul Gheorghe din Aurora și tuturor celor care poartă acest nume sau îl cinstesc!

We kindly remind all families that Christmas decorations in the cemetery were to be removed by January 31. If you still have decorations at your loved one’s resting place, we gently ask that you remove them at your earliest convenience. Thank you for helping us maintain the beauty and dignity of our sacred grounds.
