Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Today, we are announcing a new initiative called Come and See. The goal is for our congregation to become a place where our members are eager to invite their unchurched friends and neighbors—a place where they can discover how good our God is and how blessed and welcoming God’s people are.

We will all be learning more about Come and See in the weeks ahead. So, please take this first step in our journey together!

The opening lines of the United States Declaration of Independence boldly assert that certain truths are “self-evident”—truths accessible to human reason and widely recognized by observation of the world. Among these are that all people are created equal and possess unalienable rights such as life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. The founders appealed to principles they believed reasonable people could recognize simply by reflecting on human nature and justice. These truths were meant to be obvious, clear to the mind, and persuasive in the public square.

Lutherans, however, note that the most important truths revealed in the Bible are not self-evident at all. In fact, they frequently appear surprising or even contrary to human expectations. Scripture teaches that humanity is not naturally good but deeply sinful. It declares that salvation cannot be achieved through human effort but comes entirely by God’s grace. Most unexpected of all is the message that God brings forgiveness and eternal life through the suffering and death of Jesus Christ.

Biblical truth is revealed by God rather than discovered by reason alone. While some truths may seem obvious to human judgment, the truths of the Bible are often unexpected.

Two weeks ago, our teen group together with Pastor Willick and Julie Pasch attended the WELS International Youth Rally at BGSU in Bowling Green, Ohio. It was a time filled with meaningful worship, good food, getting our steps in, connecting with 2,000 teens who share our faith, and growing closer with our group of 9 as a family of faith. Thank you to all who prayed for and supported us, and God willing we'll look forward to it again in two years!

Looking for a clear answer to the question, "What does it really mean to be a Christian?"

If you ask ten different people to define what a Christian is, you will probably get ten different answers. One might say, “A Christian is someone who believes in Jesus.” Okay. But the demons believe that Jesus exists and is the Son of God. So is that definition adequate? Another person might have a more negative view. He says, “A Christian is someone who believes he is better than others.” Is that completely false? And if you aren’t humble, does that mean you aren’t Christian?

Join us at Resurrection Evangelical Lutheran Church where together we'll explore what God's Word says about our identity in Christ and what it means to follow him in faith.

Join Us for the Aurora Bike Rodeo – April 25!

Spring is the perfect time to get outside, get active, and connect with the community—and we’re excited to be part of a wonderful local event right here in Aurora!

On Saturday, April 25 from 9:00–11:00 AM, families are invited to attend the Aurora Children’s Bicycle Rodeo, a fun and educational morning focused on helping kids grow in confidence and safety while riding their bikes.

Hosted at our church and school campus, this free community event is designed for children from preschool through 8th grade and offers hands-on opportunities to build essential biking skills in a safe, supervised environment.

What to Expect

The Bike Rodeo features an interactive riding course where children can practice:

Proper helmet fit
Safe starts and stops
Obeying stop signs and traffic signals
Hand signaling and scanning for safety
Maneuvering through obstacles

Kids will also enjoy a variety of engaging activities and community connections, including:

Bike and helmet safety checks
A fun obstacle course
“Touch-a-Truck” experiences with police, fire, and emergency vehicles
Visits from local organizations and community partners
Giveaways (while supplies last)

Participants are encouraged to bring their own bike and helmet, and a parent or guardian should be present.
