Tomorrow is the high point of the Christian year. Resurrection Sunday, Easter, is where the church gathers to celebrate the power of God. God's power was on full display when Jesus was resurrected from the tomb. It meant that death had been defeated and that Satan had been defeated. It also means that your sin and mine have been paid for by Jesus Christ on the cross. If you don't have a church home, I invite you to worship with us at First Baptist Aurora. The Easter vigil is at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast to follow at 8 a.m. Sunday school is at 9:15 a.m. and Easter worship begins at 10:15 a.m. We would love to have you join us so you can hear about God's power and his love for you. Let God change your life when Jesus becomes the Lord of your life. Pastor Bill

Christmas is often driven by the wrong focus. Tonight we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ who came to save us from our sin. Jesus defeated death so that eternal life might be possible for every person on this earth. Tonight at First Baptist Aurora, beginning at 5 p.m., we will have our Christmas Eve service. I will be preaching from John 1:1-18. Verses 4 and 5 state, "Life was in Him, and that life was the light of men or humanity. That light shines in the darkness, yet the darkness did not overcome it." That is what Christmas is all about. It is about the Lord who loves us so much that he sent his most precious gift, Jesus Christ, to die for you and me. Have you received that precious gift? If not, I would encourage you to come and listen this evening so that you might come to understand what hope and truth truly look like for your life. I look forward to seeing you at 5 p.m. at First Baptist Aurora. Pastor Bill

Today I am preaching from Isaiah 11:1-10. We are only three days from Christmas Eve and I just as easily could have preached this scripture on Wednesday. The point is that verse one tells us, "from the stump of Jesse, a branch from his roots shall bear fruit." David was the second king of Israel and Judah. His father was Jesse and Jesus came from the line of King David. Jesus was born into our world to become the king of kings and lord of lords. Is Jesus your Lord and King? Come worship with us today at First Baptist Aurora. Our worship begins at 10:15 a.m. Pastor Bill

We will be gathering for prayer at First Baptist Aurora beginning at 5:30 p.m. We are one week away from Christmas Eve. Think about that for a moment. Think about what could and should be your greatest gift to the Lord in the new year. God's greatest gift to humanity was the birth of Jesus Christ into our world. Do you know Him as your Lord and Savior? Pastor Bill

Tomorrow I will be preaching from Matthew, chapter 3, verses 1-12. In this scripture John the Baptist came preparing the way for Christ's arrival. John the Baptist declared to all who would listen, "repent, for the kingdom of heaven or God has come near." John the Baptist also spoke from Isaiah, chapter 40, verse 3. "A voice of one calling in the wilderness, Prepare the way for the Lord, make straight paths for Him." Let me address one word today and that is the word "repent." It means that a person recognizes the bad things in their life that offend God and they come to recognize their need for Jesus. Yes, it is a Christian word that expresses the reality that a person turns from their old way of life. A person begins to recognize that their life has no hope without Jesus. In Jesus we find forgiveness from our sin and renewed purpose of living for Him. Some of you reading this are spiritually lost. You have never contemplated the fact that one day you are going to die. Now is the moment to embrace Jesus as your Lord and Savior and to begin following Him. When Jesus becomes the Lord of your life you now have eternal life from that moment on. Whether living or dying, you know in whose presence you constantly stand. I wish for you to know the kind of eternal peace that can fill your life regardless of your circumstances. Jesus defeated death on a cross 2,000 years ago and he paid for your sin and mine. John the Baptist came preparing the way so that people would be prepared when Jesus arrived. Now is the moment to embrace salvation through Jesus Christ. The next time Jesus returns that invitation will no longer be available. Come join us for worship at First Baptist Aurora beginning at 10:15 a.m. We will dig deeper into the scripture in Matthew and I will help share the importance of the moment. Embrace salvation while it can be found. Pastor Bill

We will be gathering for prayer at First Baptist Aurora beginning at 5:30 p.m. We have much to pray for as our country is divided and is effecting the most vulnerable. People need access to the resources that are no longer being funded because of the shutdown. Remember in this season to pray for the most vulnerable and put action behind your prayer! The Clearinghouse is in need of donations for Thanksgiving. If you can, purchase a few extra Thanksgiving meal supplies and drop them off in Aurora at their main location. They would appreciate the support. Look forward to seeing you this evening for prayer. Pastor Bill
