Jane Bacon
April 29, 1953 – September 20, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Jane Bacon, 73, of Aurora, Ohio. She entered eternal rest on September 20, 2026, with her loving family by her side.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, Jane was the beloved daughter of the late Charles Augustus and Mary Frances Bacon. She attended Gesu Grade School and graduated from Heights High School in 1971. For many years, Jane worked alongside her family. Even with all the practical jokes and laughter, the work somehow got done. Jane later graduated from Marymount School of Nursing and focused her career on geriatric nursing. She built lasting friendships with the other nurses and treated her patients with love, compassion, and dignity. Throughout every stage of her life, her family remained a constant.
Jane is survived by her devoted children, Sarah Jane Bacon, Cheyanna Lynn Salas (Nico), and David Palmerino Frate; her cherished grandchildren, Mia, Evangeline, and Jude Salas; her siblings, Charles Bacon, Timothy Bacon (Jane), Judith Bacon, Nancy Crowther (Larry), and Anne Sales (Mark); and her cousin, Barbara Harrison, whom she loved like a sister. Jane was preceded in death by her beloved brother, David Bacon. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Marsha Bacon. She leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews who were special to her.
Jane had many cherished friends, including some whose friendships began in childhood and lasted a lifetime. Though her health made it harder to get out and see people, she often reminisced about the good times and the laughter shared with friends.
Faith and family were at the heart of Jane's life. Her time spent with the Lord and reading the Bible became a major source of peace. Jane taught her children the golden rule, do unto others as you would have them do unto you, and the importance of making sure no one felt left out. She taught them to stand up for those who could not defend themselves.
Nothing brought Jane more joy than spending time with her grandchildren. Though she often shied away from the camera, every picture of her with her grandchildren shows her with a warm and beautiful smile. When her two granddaughters, Mia and Evangeline, came for visits, the house overflowed with love and laughter. They meant the world to her, and her grandson Jude filled her final year with so much joy, always greeting her with a big, bright smile. Whether they were telling stories, reading books, playing games, or sampling fresh berries, they simply loved being together.
Jane marched to the beat of a different drum. From an early age, Jane loved music, especially Bob Dylan and Buffy Sainte-Marie. Jane was fascinated by Native American culture and attended many powwows. She loved watching Little House on the Prairie and Highway to Heaven, drawn to simpler times. Jane had a special place in her heart for animals, especially horses, a love she shared with her brother, David. She also loved bunnies and had many of them as pets throughout her life. In her later years, she found solace watching the wildlife outside her window.
A graveside service will be held at All Souls Cemetery in Chardon, Ohio, on Friday, October 16, 2026, at 11:00 AM, followed by a memorial service at Awakening Church in Aurora, Ohio, at 12:30 PM. The family thanks nurses Krystal Mudery and Janet Miller for their exceptional care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in Jane's memory to the Tim Tebow Foundation's Anti-Human Trafficking and Child Exploitation ministry.
She closed her eyes to this world and opened them in the presence of Jesus. While we miss her deeply, we find comfort in the promise that one day we will be reunited in the arms of Christ.
