Hi Orchard families!

I know many of you are trying to figure out a new rhythm right now, and want to remind you that our hearts are with you. May this strange school year be one in which your family finds extra goodness and beauty in unexpected places. ❤

This week we'll be talking about darkness and love in our online gathering, and I wanted to invite your families to join by illustrating one (or both!) of these ideas:
Making a home in the darkness
Love and light in the middle of darkness
Feel free to get creative here. Crayons, paint, playdough, dioramas, costumes -- however you're inspired, we would love to see it. Leader- and caregiver-created art is welcome too.

Please send landscape/horizontal photos of your artwork to me by Thursday evening.

Hi Orchard families!

Our scripture reading this week is from Romans 5, in which Paul explains how we can find joy in trouble, in part because trouble provides an opportunity to learn and practice hope -- a hope which will never disappoint us, because it is rooted in God's love.

Sometimes troubles are really hard, and jumping straight to joy isn't right. But if we know that joy and growth can be on our path through a hard experience, it can help us become resilient.

Even toddlers know the feeling of having to work hard through a struggle, navigating frustration, disappointment, and self-doubt -- it's so human! Asking your child to remember a trouble they had and worked through might spark a good conversation.

If your child or student (and/or you) would like to record a video clip reading a line or two, please comment below and Anna Hammond will assign you a part. We'll need the videos by Thursday afternoon. Thank you!
