Pain is real.

Loss is real.
Shame is real.
Regret is real.

But none of them get the final word.

Baptism is a declaration that because Jesus walked through suffering, death, and the grave, and came out the other side, we can too.

Down with shame.
Up with forgiveness.
Down with the old life.
Up with new life.

This is the story of Jesus.
And today, it’s the story of these lives being made new.

A week of serving.

A week of showing up.

A week of choosing to be FOR our city.

Last week, more than 500 volunteers stepped into schools, neighborhoods, care facilities, food banks, businesses, and streets across Aurora. Together, they gave nearly 1,300 hours serving the people around them.

Some planted flowers.
Some picked up trash.
Some served meals.
Some wrote letters.
Some prayed.
Some listened.

Different projects. Same heartbeat.

Because loving our neighbors isn’t just something we talk about.

It’s something we do.

Thank you to every person who gave their time, energy, and heart during ForAurora Service Week.

For Real.
For Aurora.
For Better.

What do we do when Jesus makes a claim that feels uncomfortable?

When Jesus said, “I am the way,” it raises real questions:
Is Christianity exclusive? Is it ethnocentric?

Does believing something is true automatically mean everyone else is wrong?

These aren’t new questions. They’re honest ones.

Baptism isn’t about having everything figured out.
It’s about taking a step.

Some questions are too important to ignore.

Today we wrestled with one of them.

Questions have a way of leading us somewhere. Sometimes through uncertainty. Sometimes toward clarity. Often toward each other.

If your identity is fully tied to your political tribe, then disagreement will always feel like a personal attack.

And that’s true on the left.
And it’s true on the right.

Because tribalism eventually makes us defend things we would normally question… simply because “our side” said it.

Maybe we’ve been formed more by outrage culture than we realize.

The loudest church stories usually aren’t the most common ones.

Most pastors aren’t celebrities.
They’re exhausted. Faithful. Trying their best.

But when spiritual leaders fail publicly, people get hurt. Trust gets broken. Questions get louder.

So what do we do with that tension?
