St. Charles cooked yesterday and we continued the trend toward higher number of lunches. Yesterday we served 400 of them, bringing our YTD average to 378 lunches per week.
I was relieved to hear and see pictures of our injured volunteer. He is mending and reports that there was no brain bleed or broken bones in his neck. Thank you, God, for your healing spirit.
As always - thank you to our volunteers and contributing churches!

360 lunches at yesterday's Sandwich Board. Up 3 from last week's 357. Thanks to Downer's Grove for the lunches and all the volunteers! What a special group.
I've been working on our third quarter report and should be able to publish it early next week. I will post it here and send it out to those on our email list. Please send me emails of people who would like to get our updates. The more support the better.
I also want to thank everyone who volunteers for the wonderful clean up job they do every week. The transformation back to our Parish Hall is pretty amazing. Thank you!

Yesterday the Sandwich Board provided 357 lunches with the meal supplied by Naperville. They also brought a horde of eager volunteers. Thanks to them! Our YTD average is still at a healthy 376A
They even put up with waiting outside the parking lot door waiting for me to answer the bell that doesn't ring! My bad. My advice to all of you. Give me a call at 630 897-7283 when you need to get in, and keep calling every 4 minutes or so. I am in the Office from 8:30 to noon most days (I sneak out early on Friday)
Thanks to all of you who so faithfully support our efforts!

398 lunches yesterday. What's going on? Up a hundred from last week! Thanks to St. Charles for the food - our guests were very complimentary!
And thank you to the volunteers who feted me on my Birthday week: A huge cookie, a card and a song! Blessings! May we all be so blessed!

I get so confused. Mayor Eric Adams gets indited for accepting bribes and laundering money, but Clarence Thomas doesn't. What's wrong with this picture?

Well, I'll be.... 290 lunches yesterday. We haven't dropped below 300 in ages! We feared a volunteer shortage - biy were we wrong! Thanks to everyone who came and worked. Thanks to Geneva and the Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva for the lunches. I looked and we have quite a few on ice for later.
God continues to bless this mission and all of you who support it!

Back up to 364 lunches served this week. Glad to see our friends from Downer's Grove here providing the lunches!
Two pictures: #1 A friend partakes of food from our Neighbor Box. We put out food twice a week in addition to our Thursday Lunches. The Neighbor Box seems to be quite popular as it is always empty the day after we resupply it. #2 Our typical extremely busy first half hour when we open, oft time giving out 150 to 200 lunches before noon!
Thanks to our volunteers and supporters everywhere!

Well, school must be back in session! After many weeks of 400 lunches, yesterday saw us only serve 310! It was Trinity's week to provide lunches so we cleaned out the refrigerators, some sausage, some sandwiches some hot dogs.
😄thanks to our volunteers! Seems like there was a volunteer party while I was on vacation. Looks as if it was fun for all! Thanks, Janet!
God continues his blessing of this ministry.

Please excuse me for not keeping everyone up to date on the servings of the Sandwich Board. My bad. In the last four weeks our volunteers have served 384, 395, 392 and 400 lunches. Outstanding. Yesterday St. David's served a hot, delicious meal. Kudos!
So the tend seems clear, we're back up around 400 lunches per week. Our year to date average is just over 382.
I continue to be amazed at the devotion of our contributing Churches, Volunteers and those who donate. Thank you.

Half Year Summary 2024
1/1/2024 – 6/30/2024
This report covers The Sandwich Board’s first six months of its fourth Fiscal year as an independent Section 501(c)(3) not-for profit corporation. The Sandwich Board is a spin off from being a mission of Trinity Episcopal Church’s Jubilee Mission and is supported by:
Trinity Episcopal Church of Aurora St. David Episcopal Church of Aurora
St. Charles Episcopal Church St. John Episcopal Church of Naperville
St, Mark Episcopal Church of Geneva St. Andrew Church of Downers Grove
Grace Episcopal Church of Hinsdale Unitarian Universalist Society of Geneva
The Sandwich Board continues to serve nutritious bagged lunches to guests outside the Benton Street entrance to Trinity’s Parish Hall. The meals typically consist of a sandwich, fruit, dessert and some kind of beverage. At least once a month we serve hot meals in sealed cups. We also give out donated and purchased clothes, and toiletries. Most of our guests come regularly. Our regulars are welcomed by name and share their stories with our volunteers. A volunteer speaks fluent Spanish and adds to our ability to meet the needs of our guests. The lunches are provided by our wonderful participating churches and are supplemented by the Sandwich Board as necessary. When we have extra lunches on hand after the Sandwich Board ends, we give them to homeless people at their tent city. Please note that the Sandwich Board purchased $1,197 worth of lunches, $607 on lunch support (non-food) during the quarter and $ year to date..
We are also thankful for the weekly donation of baked goods by Panera Bread. Our guests love them!
We received income this quarter in the amount of $2,374 which included Gifts from St. David’s, Trinity, our beloved friend, Maggie and a check for $150 from Aurora’s female Roller Derby team the Aurora 88s. We also have six monthly subscribers we can rely upon.
We have served 4,775 lunches this quarter with an average of 367 lunches per week. The number of lunches served per week seems to have stabilized around 350 to 360 per week after our spike last quarter.
We have been blessed by a loyal group of volunteers who come every Thursday that has grown with several new members which brings our number of regulars to eight. Many of our supporting members also bring a group of volunteers the week they supply the food. We are also grateful for the huge generosity of our participating Churches. Our enduring thanks to Trinity, which continues to provide space and support for our efforts.
