The Second Coming

Not to long ago I was reading an article about the second coming of Christ. I was shocked to read this persons view of the second coming. It went a little something like this... A soon as you receive Jesus in your heart, that is the second coming for you.
Now think about that for just a bit. I mean That's it? We accept Christ but we still have to live in a world full of sin, hatred and disease? Death forever more? That doesn't seem to appealing does it.
Another view that I have heard a lot lately Is that he is coming in "Secret". My question is why would He come in secret? The Bible makes it clear that God is just as eager to come get us as we are of being with Him. Speaking on the Second Coming Zephaniah3:17 says... He will rejoice over thee with joy...He will joy over thee with singing! What a thought. When we finally get to see Jesus face to face, the Bible says Jesus will sing to us/you! An amazing thought.
But with so much confusion about this topic of the Second Coming I thought that we would try to bring some clarity on this theme. We will take it slow because as we study I know questions will arise, and we want to study the Bible in a respectful and responsible way. We will get deeper into the gems of truth that God has laid out in His word as we go.
So what does the Bible teach about the Second Coming?
John 14:1-3...I go and prepare a place for you, and if I go and prepare a place for you, I WILL come again and receive you to myself..
Note that Jesus Himself is promising to come back! Why?
Because He has prepared a place for you and I to live in forever more.
Matthew 24:27 "For as the Lightning comes from the east and flashes from the west, so also will the coming of the Man be".
Revelations 1:7 " Behold He cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him". So you see that these verses make it clear people will see when Jesus comes.
Matthew25:31 makes it clear He is not coming by Himself either...
"When the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the holy angles with Him".
Not only that , but it will be audible as well. We will hear His second coming.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 "For the Lord Himself will...Shout with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God.
Notice that His coming opens the graves of His redeemed!!
Matthew 24:30 "coming with great power and Glory".
The bible even mentions that the earth will tremble...
"and every mountain and Island was moved out of its place".
Revelations16:18-20 mentions thunderings and lightnings, and a great earthquake.
Lets go back now to 1Thessalonians4:16-18.
Notice what it says in verse 17. "Then we who are alive will be caught up together with them(those resurrected) in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.
I don't know if you have ever noticed that phrase "caught up", before. Jesus will not touch this earth again until made new for you and I to dwell in for all eternity. We will look at that at another time. Now we can understand Matthew 24:23,26 a little more when the bible says "Here is Christ or there, or "look He is in the desert!' do not go out; or look He is in the inner rooms!' do not believe it. Then verse 27 says for as the lightning is from the east and flashes to the west, so also will the coming of the son of man be.
Gods second coming is going to be an amazing , awesome experience that you will not only see it and not only hear it but it will be an emotional reunion as well. For the wicked will say to the rocks, fall on us, because they want to hide from Jesus (Revelation6:16). God is inviting us today to be a part of the other group the redeemed , that will proclaim Him. Note what it says in Isaiah 25:9
"And it shall be said in that day, lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us...we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation".
He will come again to bring His reward(Rev22:12).
You see family Jesus will come again to complete the plan of salvation, which includes our resurrection(for those that died in Christ), our being with God, and eternal life on a new earth. I pray you may be making every effort for yourself, family and friends to spend all eternity with Him. That is His desire for you and I.

Dear God, thank you for not leaving us in the dark on this important subject. I want to be part of those redeemed. I want to be caught up with you. Make this a reality in my life. Amen

Trusting in Jesus, even though you can't see the "End".

In Matthew24:3 the Apostles came to Jesus asking Him when will the "end" be?
Now due to current world events and the condition of our world today people are asking the very same thing...are we at the "End"? People have real fears about the future. Both the economy like society are unstable. Not to mention the natural disasters that are causing havoc across the globe. From earthquakes to pestilence , tornadoes and fires. It seems when we are just getting through one of these natural phenomenons something else hits us.
What can we expect moving forward?
You know, God saw all these things coming(Isaiah46:10). That's why His answer to the Disciples was, "Take heed that no man deceives you" (vs4), and He goes on to describe certain signs of the times of the end to watch out for so that they, the disciples, as well as us may not be deceived but take comfort and hope in His word and in His sure promises. That's the God I serve. Not willing that any should perish but come to repentance. 2Peter3:9
God loves us and has told us before what will happen so we are not caught off guard or surprised by what takes place in our world, but to take courage in His soon return.
Lets take a closer look at the response or invitation that Jesus gave to the disciples. "Take heed", or some other versions say, "watch". Simply meaning to observe, weigh the evidence, perceive, to consider, to examine. Jesus wanted the disciples to know the truth for themselves, and He desires the same for us today.
2 Timothy 2:15 "Study to shew thyself approved unto God.
John 5:39 "Search the scriptures".
Psalms 119:18 says "Open my eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of your law".
I want to challenge you to drink largely of the fountain of truth as it is found in Gods word. The Bible says in Isaiah 40:8 "The grass withereth the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever".
Proverbs30:5-6 "Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him".
Psalms 119:105 "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path".
Do you see we are not left to fend alone. God has provided a way that we can understand Him, as well as His will for you and I as we prepare for His soon return through His word, the Holy Bible.
Part of His will for us is not that we live in uncertainty and fear but that we may experience peace and contentment even in a world that is going haywire. How? By trusting in Jesus. Now I know for some its easier said than done, because they haven't allowed Jesus to work in there behalf and so they have not "tasted and seen that the Lord is good"(Psalms34:8). But you can!! Even now you may experience the goodness of Christ. What do you have to loose?
An evangelist once said... "you are just a prayer away".
Jeremiaiah33:3 "Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things wich thou knowest not".
Jeremiah 29:11 says..."For I know the thoughts that I think toward you(personally),saith the Lord, thoughts of peace (John 14:27; 16:33, Isaiah26:3, Gods peace is eternal) , and not of war, to give you an expected end"(Heaven).
John 16:33 says "these things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Revelation3:20 "Behold I stand at the door an knock. If anyone hear My voice and open the door, I will come in to him and dine with Him, and He with Me".
Will you take up the challenge with me?

Dear God, please don't let me live in fear, but help me to find comfort and hope in your word. I know you love us, you showed us on the cross how much, but now let me truly love you, and trust that you will see us through. Lord I believe, help my unbelief, Amen.
