Big news: Augusta’s new Center of Hope is one step closer to reality.

The Salvation Army of Augusta has received final approval for $4.82 million in HUD funding, allowing demolition, site preparation, and construction planning to begin. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we’re now just $400,000 away from fully funding this transformational project.

The future Center of Hope will provide expanded shelter, services, and hope for individuals and families experiencing homelessness throughout our community.

In this episode of CrossTalk at the Kroc, Jonathan Raymer is joined by Gloria Diavangama, Territorial Student Ministries Coordinator, to discuss the importance of teen ministry in today’s world. They explore why the teenage years are such a critical and formative season for identity, belonging, and faith—and why the church cannot afford to overlook this generation. Gloria shares practical insights on connecting with teens authentically, building meaningful relationships, and using resources like the Corps Cadet program to disciple and develop young leaders. This conversation highlights how investing in teenagers today can shape the future of the church and the mission of sharing Christ with the world.

Did you know that The Christian Mission changed its name to The Salvation Army in 1878, and Hallelujah Lassies became the popular nickname for Salvation Army women who enthusiastically preached the Gospel?

While courageously conducting open-air meetings in poor and often dangerous neighborhoods, their mission was clear: to reach the poor, homeless, destitute masses with the redeeming message of Jesus Christ.
