Cliffwood Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America. Our worship is reformed and reverential as we seek to sing, read, pray, display (through the sacraments of baptism and the Lord's Supper), and preach the word of God to each other in Sunday worship, to the honor and glory of our Triune God.

Today's family worship lesson: Read Ephesians 2:1–3. In v. 3 compare the desires of the body of man (v. 3) with the effects of Christ filling the church as His body (Eph. 1:22–23). Look at Eph. 6:12 to understand the “prince of the power of the air” who is at work in man’s corrupted body. Look at Eph. 5:6 to understand what the natural man deserves.

Today's family worship lesson: Read Psalm 130. In vv. 3–4 the psalmist first acknowledges his unworthiness to receive God’s help. How does v. 4 explain the reason why he draws near anyway? Show how vv. 3–4 explain a little why the psalmist is in the depths in v. 1. How can falling into sin awaken a sense of discouragement? How is encouragement to be found again?

Today's family worship lesson: Read Ephesians 2:1–3. What do these verses mean when they say man is dead in sins and trespasses? Point out the phrase “in which you once walked.” Look at Mark 7:5 or 2 Cor. 5:7 to show that this describes a man’s actions. Show how actions are really just symptoms of what is going on in the heart (see Mark 7:16).

06/08/2026

Today's family worship lesson: Read Psalm 130. In vv. 1–2 the psalmist describes his discouragement. How does the opening give encouragement to the discouraged Christian to still take up worship, and to draw near to the Lord? How does he expect relief to come to him? How does the psalmist’s response encourage us to turn to the Lord when we are discouraged?
