But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23).
God Made Me, He Made Me Who I Am...
The message today was delivered by Rev. Maggie McDonald. Text: Judges, the 7th chapter, verses 2-7 & 22. Focus verse 7. "And the Lord said unto Gideon, By the three hundred men that lapped will I save you, and deliver the Midianites into thine hand; and let all other people go every man unto his place." Subject: It's A Fixed Fight.
Fight or flight is your body's automatic natural survival reaction to a perceived threat or danger. Oftentimes the only solution is to fight. However we must realize that withdrawal is sometimes necessary. Not all fights are against a physical enemy. We have to fight for our health, fight for our sanity, fight against sickness that attacks our physical bodies, fight for the life we live. And the reality is oftentimes we don't start or cause the fight, but fight we must. Again realizing the fight oftentimes is not meant to break us but to build us up.
Gideon, the star of the text had some insecurities. God called him a mighty warrior, but he didn't think of himself that way. We often ask God why did you choose me? Gideon thought of himself as the lesser of everyone else in his family. He was so fearful that he asked God for a sign as proof that it was indeed God calling on him. Gideon needed some assurances. Isn't that just like us!
God's instructions to Gideon reduced the number of warriors that would go into battle to a number ( from 22 thousand, to 10 thousand, finally to 3 hundred), that was the exact number that God required.
The Shout point: all the people around you won't fight with you, some will fight against you. Gideon initially had a lot of warriors but it wasn't their fight. Oftentimes God will remove folk that are not of the same heart, mind, and spirit. What Gideon finally realized was It Was A Fixed Fight.
Wonderful message Rev. McDonald...
Praise the Lord!!!
