God has really been dropping some “nature knowledge” on me since Hurricane Helene….

Light. It cannot occupy the same space as darkness. Light will take over pushing the darkness out. Thankful for the sunlight that has shone through since this devastating storm in these beautiful days. My friend from BSF, Jan, said that she was “thankful that our true source of Power never leaves us.”

Light can take on many forms. It can be in the form of actual light from the sun or via electricity. Light can come through in a smile from a stranger, or a neighbor you have never seen or barely know. Light can be in the form of helping hands when the task is too great and feels overwhelming. Light can come in the form of a meal prepared with love that shows up unexpectedly. Light can beam in through people who come from hundreds, or maybe thousands, of miles away to lend extra hands to clean up or restore the man made light that was suddenly and violently taken away.

So many things can be hidden in the shadows and under the cover of darkness. In order to grow, living things need food, water, and light. While this process may be painful for us because of all of the devastation, I keep feeling like God is wanting more light to come in on us. His light. “Son”light. Bask in it. Let it warm you and soak it up. He IS THE light. THE light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.

Thank you to everyone who is continuing to help restore power, internet, homes and lives. It is dangerous work, and I know I’m not the only one praying for all of you.

So put on your “Son”glasses and let Him shine on you and through you. God bless. 💜🙏

I have thought a lot about the birds, and other animals, with all of these recent storms. I have a heart for animals since they can’t verbalize feelings to us (in a language we completely understand.) This post, the first on my Instagram this morning, brought it back to the forefront.

God’s Word tells us in Matthew 6:26-27:

26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

A lot of things in this world can cause us to worry, many times unnecessarily. God tells us that the birds do not store away any “extra” in barns, and He still takes care of their every need-daily. He provides. If He provides for them, He WILL provide for you, too. God loves the birds and the other animals, BUT He loves you MORE. Infinitely more.

So, during the storms, God takes care of the birds and the animals, and He will take care of you. John 16:33 says:

33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Jesus Himself said those words. His Word is just as effective today, and in the future, as it was thousands of years ago. He wouldn’t have said it, and it would not be in the Bible if it weren’t true. All of His Word is God-breathed and inerrant, just like Jesus was. Our “defection” is His perfection. He tells us we WILL have trouble. BUT, He also tells us He has overcome the world. He wins. Period. This world and the things of it CANNOT defeat those in Jesus. 💜
