Proximity to Christ does not Preclude Persecution and Pain

Don't lose hope. It's just a fact of life and not a price you pay. Christ paid it all. Know that the reason for the resentment, mistreatment, disappointment, hardship, difficulties, and pain you suffer is not due to the absence of Christ, but the world's ignorance and hatred of Him and your identification with Him.

“Remember the word that I said to you, ‘A slave is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you; if they kept My word, they will keep yours also. But all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know the One who sent Me." --John 15:20-21 NASB

"The Precious Privileges of God's Protection"

"What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?"
--Rom.8:31 NASB

"Thinking Right to Feel Right"

The world's "Happiness Report" for 2017 is out today. 155 countries are rated on a 10-point scale; 1 being the saddest and 10 happiest. Norway ranks 1st while the Central African Republic ranks 155th (2.69% happy).
Since last year, the United States slipped from 13th and now ranks 14th. Liberia ranks 148th (3.53 happy) or one of the saddest nations on our planet. The breakdown of the Happiness Report clearly shows that Happiness can be cultivated.

"Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things."
--Phil. 4:8 NASB

Happiness is a magnitude that can't be measured, but pursued.

"Life According to His Purpose"

Lord, I pray that it's your purpose, neither about my pleasure nor preference.

"And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose."
--Rom. 8:28 NASB

"Waiting is Refreshing"

Waiting is necessary. It is both a natural and spiritual restorative process that we must go through. It provides the opportunity, space, and time needed for the restoration of freshness, depleted resources, and the mental vigor required for the continuation of a purposeful life.

"Yet those who wait for the Lord
Will gain new strength;
They will mount up with wings like eagles,
They will run and not get tired,
They will walk and not become weary."
--Isa. 40:31 NASB

Fantasy Appears Real in La La land

Don't fall for it. It's neither your environment nor heritage. It's choices we make. We can't continue to make wrong choices and expect positive outcomes. That's called living in "La La Land."

God's truth came before the devil's lies. God's truth brings life and order while Satan's lies produces chaos and death.

"The serpent said to the woman, 'You surely will not die! 'For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good and evil.' When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate."
--Gen 3:4 - 6 NASB

"And he (Satan) said to Him (Jesus), 'I will give you all their authority and splendor, for it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours.' Jesus answered him, 'It is written, You shall worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.’ ”
--Luke 4:6 - 8 NASB

Fake Friends Rebuked Former Fortune Restored

Take Heart, when the test is over, all your fake friends shall be held up to the light; all your losses shall be reversed and restored.

"It came about after the Lord had spoken these words to Job, that the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, 'My wrath is kindled against you and against your two friends, because you have not spoken of Me what is right as My servant Job has.' The Lord restored the fortunes of Job when he prayed for his friends, and the Lord increased all that Job had twofold. The Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; and he had 14,000 sheep and 6,000 camels and 1,000 yoke of oxen and 1,000 female donkeys. After this, Job lived 140 years, and saw his sons and his grandsons, four generations."
--Job 42:7, 10, 12, 16 NASB

"There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven."
--Eccl. 3:1 NASB

God Gives Good Gifts

God is good and every gift from Him is perfect. Sometimes God's gifts can be a bit strange, but when His reason for the gift is fully revealed, we become thankful.

"Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow."
--James 1:17 NASB

"Because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations, for this reason, to keep me from exalting myself, there was given me a thorn in the flesh, a messenger of Satan to torment me—to keep me from exalting myself!"
--I Cor. 12:7 NASB

Neither by my Might nor my Strength, by His Spirit

God's might perfects strength out of weakness. Lord, please remind me today and everyday.

"For the Lord had caused the army of the Arameans to hear a sound of chariots and a sound of horses, even the sound of a great army, so that they said to one another, “Behold, the king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians, to come upon us.”
--II Kings 7:6 NASB

Courage of Convictions

His own people sought for Him the most ignominious death that would leave an indelible mark of infamy on all those watching. Pontus Pilate the Roman Governor made an ingenious insinuation about Him, but Jesus gave an incredulous response based on courage, His character, and conviction. If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for everything. Can you live out your Christian convictions for just one day?

“Therefore Pilate said to Him, 'So You are a king?' Jesus answered, 'You say correctly that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.'"
--John 18:37 NASB

“I don’t want to pretend to be someone I’m not."

"Hospitality not Hostility"

Hospitality to the Destitute and Distressed is an Appropriated and Acceptable Service to God.

"When a stranger resides with you in your land, you shall not do him wrong. The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as the native among you, and you shall love him as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God."
--Lev 19:33 - 34 NASB

"Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it."
--Heb. 13:2 NASB
